Pratfall Effect People who appear highly competent and do not make mistakes are usually viewed favorably by other people. However, psychologists have found that in cases where a person is already considered competent, people will tend to like or admire that person even more if he or she makes a minor mistake. This phenomenon is known as the pratfall effect. Psychologists believe that the pratfall effect occurs because people who display minor flaws are seen as being easier to relate to and less intimidating. Thus, people who make no mistakes are perceived less favorably than people who are generally competent but occasionally make small mistakes.

修正后的回答(满分版本):
The Pratfall Effect is illustrated in the example from the lecture, where two groups of people watched a video of a man answering questions. In the first version, the man answered all questions correctly, while in the second version, he also answered all questions correctly but spilled coffee on his shirt and laughed it off. The researchers found that the second group, who watched the man spill coffee, rated him as more likable than the first group. This demonstrates the Pratfall Effect because people perceived the man who made a minor mistake as more relatable and less intimidating, thus making him more likable compared to the man who made no mistakes.
