Task Overview
Reading Passage
Pratfall Effect People who appear highly competent and do not make mistakes are usually viewed favorably by other people. However, psychologists have found that in cases where a person is already considered competent, people will tend to like or admire that person even more if he or she makes a minor mistake. This phenomenon is known as the pratfall effect. Psychologists believe that the pratfall effect occurs because people who display minor flaws are seen as being easier to relate to and less intimidating. Thus, people who make no mistakes are perceived less favorably than people who are generally competent but occasionally make small mistakes.

修正后的回答(满分版本):
The Pratfall Effect is illustrated in the example from the lecture, where two groups of people watched a video of a man answering questions. In the first version, the man answered all questions correctly, while in the second version, he also answered all questions correctly but spilled coffee on his shirt and laughed it off. The researchers found that the second group, who watched the man spill coffee, rated him as more likable than the first group. This demonstrates the Pratfall Effect because people perceived the man who made a minor mistake as more relatable and less intimidating, thus making him more likable compared to the man who made no mistakes.

Delivery The speaker's delivery is generally clear and fluid, with a consistent pace and only occasional pauses. However, there are some instances where the speech could be more natural and less repetitive. For example, the speaker could vary their sentence structure and avoid using "this man" too often. Additionally, the speaker should work on their pronunciation to avoid any confusion with words like "pratfall effect" and "analyst." Overall, the speaker should continue practicing their delivery to improve clarity and fluency.
-
Topic Development The speaker provides a coherent and well-organized response, with clear connections between ideas and sufficient support or examples from the lecture. However, there is room for improvement in terms of topic development. The speaker should focus on providing more specific details from the lecture, such as mentioning the man's intelligence and knowledge in both versions of the video. Additionally, the speaker could better explain how the research study demonstrates the pratfall effect by emphasizing that people found the man more likable when he made a minor mistake (spilling coffee). By incorporating these suggestions, the speaker can further develop their response and provide a more comprehensive explanation of the pratfall effect.

Corrected: The practical pratfall effect means that people tend to like or admire a person who is usually considered competent even more if he or she makes a minor mistake. An analyst experiment and a professor uses use a research study to illustrate this idea. (Changed "practical" to "pratfall," "analyst" to "experiment," and "uses" to "use" for accuracy and proper grammar.)
Revised Answer (140 words):
The pratfall effect suggests that people tend to like or admire someone who is generally considered competent even more if they make a minor mistake. A research study and a professor illustrate this concept through an experiment. In the study, two groups of participants watched videos of a man answering questions on various subjects. Both videos showed the man answering all questions correctly, demonstrating his intelligence and knowledge. However, in the second video, the man accidentally spilled coffee on his shirt, appearing embarrassed before continuing with the questions. After watching the videos, participants rated how much they liked the man. The results revealed that the group who watched the second video, where the man made a minor mistake, found him more likable and rated him higher than the first group did. This example demonstrates the pratfall effect in action, showing that people find others more relatable when they display minor flaws.
