Task Overview

Doctor Gupta

We are looking this week at different ways businesses market their products and services especially nontraditional methods. One thing that marketers pay close attention to is online reviews of their products. A business might include customer reviews on their website or carefully monitor the reviews on third-party sites. I would like you to discuss your own experiences with online reviews. Do you find them useful when deciding whether or not to buy a product or service? Why or why not?

Claire

I think online reviews are a great source of information because they are written by ordinary customers who are like me. For instance, when I read a restaurant review by professional food critics, I'm not interested in some of the details that are included, like how the food is prepared. I'm more interested in aspects like the quality of the food and the service. which regular Customers usually comment on.

Andrew

To me, online reviews have some real problems. First people are more likely to post reviews after ad experience than after a good one. As a result, what you read is often weighted toward the negative. Also, you have no way of knowing whether reviewers know what they are talking about even if they actually bought and used the product they are reviewing

User Samples & Evaluation Results

User Sample

In addressing this problem proposed by Doctor Gupta, I would support Claire's perspective that online reviews are useful. Certainly, most of the comments which customers give are the people who are similar to individuals. On the other hand, I want to add is that the amount of positive comments could convince us that the service or product is reliable. It is inevitable that distinctive individuals will have separate opinions, but if the good feedbacks overwhelm negative comments, mostly the products or services have high quality. Take me as an example, I wanted to by a laptop for study. Therefore, I searched considerable number of stores on Amazon, and I chose one which have highest recognition. Eventually, just as I imagined, the quality was really reliable and after even 4 years my laptop has no problems.

Section Title: The Value of Online Reviews in Consumer Decision-Making

In response to Dr. Gupta's inquiry, I concur with Claire's viewpoint that online reviews are indeed beneficial for consumers. The majority of these reviews come from customers who share similar perspectives and experiences with potential buyers. Furthermore, the prevalence of positive feedback can serve as a testament to the product or service's reliability. While it is true that individuals may have differing opinions, a preponderance of favorable comments typically indicates high quality. For instance, when I was searching for a laptop for my studies, I explored numerous stores on Amazon and ultimately selected one with the highest recognition. As expected, the laptop proved to be reliable and has remained problem-free even after four years of use. (126 words)
