Aperçu de la Tâche

Doctor Gupta

This week, we’ll study an issue that is often debated by economists. There are many large industries that, while providing significant economic benefits, engage in practices that result in environmental harm. Some would argue that economic success should never come at the cost of damage to the environment. Do you agree with this view? Why or why not?

Paul

I can’t say I agree. Everyone talks about protecting natural resources, but what about protecting humans? Humans need the ability to work and provide for their families, and sometimes this means creating jobs through industries that might contribute to pollution. Those industries can just be monitored by environmental agencies. That’s a win-win solution.

Kelly

I see your point, Paul, but I don’t think there are many industries that are so essential for the economy that their impact on the environment can be ignored or merely “monitored.” Continual environmental damage will one day lead to the extinction of species that are essentials to agriculture. That will endanger our food chain.

From my perspective, I concur with Kelly's opinion that environmental protection overweigh economic development. I would like to add more different reasons to support it. First, the damages and harms that many large industries caused are hard to repair and improve. The fact is, these negative impacts are usually evitable and terrible. For instance, the process of global warming, had became faster and faster since the Industrial Revolution. And only thing we can do is not to stop it, but slow it. Additionally, the cost of repairing the environments and improve the surroundings are too high to imagine. So, the economic success can not offset the nagetive impacts it brought to the world. Section Title: Balancing Economic Development and Environmental Protection

In my view, I align with Kelly's stance that prioritizing environmental protection is more crucial than economic development. To bolster this argument, I would like to present additional reasons. Firstly, the detrimental effects caused by numerous large industries are often irreversible and severe. Indeed, many of these negative consequences are avoidable yet disastrous. For example, global warming has accelerated since the Industrial Revolution, and our current efforts can only mitigate its progression rather than halt it entirely. Furthermore, the expenses associated with restoring damaged ecosystems and improving environmental conditions are astronomical. Consequently, economic success cannot justify the adverse impacts it inflicts upon our planet. Large corporations and governments should concentrate on fostering an eco-friendly society to establish a genuinely sustainable equilibrium between economic growth and environmental preservation. While I find that both Kelly and Paul have made compelling arguments regarding economic success and environmental problems, I am firmly of the opinion that financial success should not come at the cost of environmental damage. To be more specific, we can enhance economic growth alongside the implementation of advanced environmental technologies. For instance, investing in modern water treatment plants equipped with advanced filtration systems can significantly reduce pollutants in rivers and lakes, ensuring the supply of clean and safe drinking water. As for the view provided by Kelly, I perceive a slight limitation within her argument. The environmental problem is not caused by economic growth but by the absence of effective public policy designed to reduce pollutant emissions.

Paul presents a compelling argument in favor of economic benefits and job opportunity provided by the industries. At first glance, it seems reasonable that industries can not only support numerous families, but also be monitored by government. However, closer scrutiny of this claim reveals that it is less convincing. I tend to agree with Kelly as the influence on the environment outweighs the economy benefits. In other words, we cannot recklessly develop the economy regardless of the harm it provides. For instance, if we pour polluted effluent into the water and release too much carbon dioxide into the ari, just like what common industries do, it will cause the death of various fishes and the increasing of global temperature. Then we will need to spend more money and people to deal with these severe problems and make the enivronment clear and beautiful again. Therefore, when we develop our society, we must take the protection of our environment intoaccount.

例如,将 "it will cause the death of various fishes" 改为 "it will lead to the death of various fish species."

4. 文章结构与组织

Section Title: Balancing Economic Growth and Environmental Protection

While Paul's argument highlights the importance of economic benefits and job opportunities provided by industries, it may overlook the long-term consequences of environmental degradation. Although industries can support numerous families and be monitored by government agencies, the potential harm to the environment should not be underestimated. I concur with Kelly that the impact on the environment often outweighs economic benefits. In other words, we must not pursue economic development recklessly, disregarding its detrimental effects on our surroundings. For example, if industries continue to discharge polluted effluent into water bodies and release excessive carbon dioxide into the air, it will result in devastating consequences such as loss of aquatic life and global temperature increase. Section Title: Balancing Economic Growth and Environmental Preservation

I concur with the perspective that the interdependence between economic growth and human welfare cannot be disregarded. In contemporary society, numerous industries and resources are vital for sustaining human well-being. However, the availability of natural resources for human consumption is finite. Consequently, if these resources become scarce, it will negatively impact the economy's success. Furthermore, economic systems are inherently reliant on human support; without it, no industry can function independently indefinitely.

Human survival is undoubtedly dependent on natural resources such as food and water; therefore, a robust economic system is crucial for maintaining our quality of life. For instance, during the COVID-19 pandemic, many factories were forced to shut down, threatening economic stability as people relied on resources provided by these facilities. The scarcity of essential goods resulted in dire consequences for numerous individuals. Nevertheless, once the pandemic subsided and markets began to recover with people's support, there was a noticeable uptick in economic activity compared to pre-pandemic levels.

I endorse Kelly's viewpoint that environmental degradation is an issue that humanity cannot afford to ignore. Our actions have far-reaching implications for both our well-being and the economy at large. Therefore, striking a balance between economic growth and environmental preservation is of paramount importance in ensuring a sustainable future for all. (218 words)

As Kelly emphisized, it is crucial for individuals to take care of the pollution made by factorys, which can ultimately cause species extinction and challenge the food chain. As an illustration, the polluted water in Japanese sea will cause a lot of species extinct or have some harmful changes, leading to less food for sea-side individuals. Althogh Paul tightly mentioned the industries can be monitored, sometimes one mistake already result in a significant pollution. In addition to Kelly's argument, I propose that development without harming environment can save money. In my country, some practices have proved that people can achieve economic success without any damage to the environment. For instance, peasants in some rural areas are struggling for their lives. Governments invest resources to construct railways, and advertise on the Internet to attract tourists since fantastic scenery have a way of relieving stress for people living in suburb areas. With rapid the development of tourism, people gain more job opportunities and salary without damage to the environment. Under that circumstance, I strongly believe that we can not only boost the economy but also protect the environment.

In my opinion, economic development should not come at the expense of environmental degradation. If the environment is destroyed, significant resources and efforts will be required for its restoration.

In my country, there are examples of achieving economic success without causing harm to the environment. For instance, in some rural areas where peasants struggle to make a living, the government invests in infrastructure such as railways and promotes tourism through online advertising. The breathtaking scenery attracts tourists seeking respite from their hectic urban lives. As a result, the growth of tourism creates job opportunities and increases income for local residents without causing environmental damage.

Therefore, I firmly believe that it is possible to simultaneously promote economic growth and protect the environment. By prioritizing sustainable development strategies, we can ensure a prosperous future for both humanity and our planet. (141 words)

Though this process may unavoidably harm the environment, if the industries can be monitored by agencies in the environmental field, the situation can grow better, and the pollution can be controlled effectively by this way. Furthermore, if the industries develop and make more breakthrough on some significant issues of the environment protection, there is more possibility for the industries to provide both economic and technological support to the environment. For example, the industries can use the budget to create the new efficient pesticide to eliminate the pests, and by using the high-tech products, though it costs some, the result is remarkable and dramatic. 6.文章修订

In my opinion, economic success can come at the cost of environmental damage to some extent, but there are ways to minimize this impact. As Paul mentioned, humans need to work and provide for their families, and industries are essential for creating jobs. Although these industries may inevitably harm the environment, effective monitoring by environmental agencies can help control pollution and improve the situation.

Moreover, industries can contribute to environmental protection by investing in research and development of cleaner technologies or renewable energy sources. This would not only reduce their environmental impact but also maintain economic growth. For instance, industries could allocate budgets towards developing more efficient pesticides that eliminate pests without causing significant harm to the ecosystem.

In summary, while economic success may come at an environmental cost, it is possible to strike a balance between development and preservation through effective monitoring and investment in cleaner technologies. This approach ensures that both human needs and environmental concerns are addressed in a sustainable manner. (165 words)

I agree with this view. I think it is a good environment is more improtant than the success of the economy. The first reason is that it is crucial for human to ensure the sustainability of the entire race. If we pollute the environment too hard just for economic success for short run, we cannot maintain a stable success in the long run because all the resources will be ruined: The land will be polluted and the water will be contaminated. Some may argue that there might be no enough jobs for humans, but it is not the reason to pollute the environment. There are many other jobs that won't harm the environment but, in opposite, help the environment. For example, government can build zoos and there will be plenty of jobs opportunities there.

3. Task completeness

The essay addresses the professor's question and expresses an opinion, but it could benefit from more elaboration on the reasons for that opinion. Additionally, the essay could use more specific examples to support its points. The mention of zoos as an alternative job source is a good start, but it would be helpful to provide more context or examples of environmentally friendly industries.

Suggestions for improvement:

  • Provide more specific examples or details to support your viewpoint.

  • Elaborate on your reasons for choosing your opinion.

Examples in English:

  1. "Instead of relying on industries that cause pollution, we can invest in renewable energy sources like solar and wind power, which not only create jobs but also help protect the environment."
  2. "Governments can implement stricter regulations and penalties for industries that cause environmental harm, encouraging them to adopt cleaner technologies and practices."

4. Essay structure and organization

The essay has a clear structure with an introduction, body, and conclusion. However, it could benefit from better organization within the body paragraphs. Each paragraph should focus on a specific point with supporting details. Clear transitions between ideas and paragraphs should also be present.

Suggestions for improvement:

  • Focus each paragraph on a specific point with supporting details.

  • Use clear transitions between ideas and paragraphs.

Examples in English:

  1. "Firstly, prioritizing environmental protection ensures long-term sustainability for both humans and natural resources. For instance, preserving forests helps maintain clean air quality while also providing habitats for various species."
  2. "Moreover, by investing in environmentally friendly industries such as renewable energy or sustainable agriculture, we can create job opportunities without compromising our planet's health. This approach balances economic growth with environmental responsibility."

Title: 6 Revised Essay

I concur with the perspective that prioritizing environmental preservation over economic success is essential.

The primary rationale behind this stance is the necessity to ensure the long-term sustainability of our planet and the human race. Pursuing short-term economic gains at the expense of environmental health may lead to irreversible consequences, such as land pollution and water contamination. Ultimately, this approach would jeopardize our ability to maintain stable progress in the long run as resources become depleted.

While some may argue that prioritizing environmental protection could result in a lack of job opportunities, I believe alternative solutions exist that can simultaneously benefit both humans and the environment. Paul represents a compelling argument that if the industries are monitored by the environmental agencies can contribute to the improvement of environment eventually. However, this ideal blueprint suffers from both logical and factual flaw. In my opinion, counting on the private companies to not damaging our environment is unrealistic, to adding a tax revenue on those companies or fined them with extra funds is more reliable solution. Adding tax revenue on big companies that make profit from environmental damaging has built a role model in the industry, which can not only make economic income but also warn the secondary companies to take renewal action. For example, the regulation or principle are aimed at those big head in industries such as coal companies,.

Exemple d'Utilisateur

The debate surrounding whether there will be an economic success at the expense of environmental contamination is indeed complex, but in my opinion, the success will never come if our earth is polluted. Firstly, I concur with Kelly that we should restrict a large amount of industries who are doing harm to the environment. I'd add that the poisonous chemicals these industries probably release will not only affect the animals but also have bad influence on human. On the other hand, while Paul's relevant point seems convincing, he fails to mention that these actions will not benefit human based on the fact that polluted areas can not be brought back to their primary use.

Section Title: Balancing Economic Success and Environmental Protection

The intricate debate concerning economic success at the expense of environmental degradation is one that requires careful consideration. In my view, genuine prosperity cannot be achieved if our planet suffers from pollution. I agree with Kelly that industries causing significant harm to the environment should be regulated and limited. Furthermore, it is crucial to acknowledge that the toxic substances released by these industries not only impact wildlife but also have detrimental effects on human health. While Paul raises a valid concern about job creation and human welfare, he overlooks the long-term consequences of environmental damage. The irreversible nature of pollution in certain areas ultimately negates any perceived benefits for humanity, as it renders these regions unsuitable for their original purposes. (128 words)
