Rembrandt is the most famous of the seventeenth-century Dutch painters. However, there are doubts whether some paintings attributed to Rembrandt were actually painted by him. One such painting is known as attributed to Rembrandt because of its style, and indeed the representation of the woman’s face is very much like that of portraits known to be by Rembrandt. But there are problems with the painting that suggest it could not be a work by Rembrandt.First, there is something inconsistent about the way the woman in the portrait is dressed. She is wearing a white linen cap of a kind that only servants would wear-yet the coat she is wearing has a luxurious fur collar that no servant could afford. Rembrandt, who was known for his attention to the details of his subjects’ clothing, would not have been guilty of such an inconsistency.Second, Rembrandt was a master of painting light and shadow, but in this painting these elements do not fit together. The face appears to be illuminated by light reflected onto it from below. But below the face is the dark fur collar, which would absorb light rather than reflect it. So the face should appear partially in shadow-which is not how it appears. Rembrandt would never have made such an error. Finally, examination of the back of the painting reveals that it was painted on a panel made of several pieces of wood glued together. Although Rembrandt often painted on wood panels, no painting known to be by Rembrandt uses a panel glued together in this way from several pieces of wood. For these reasons the painting was removed from the official catalog of Rembrandt’s paintings in the 1930s.

Both the passage and the lecture address the issue about whether the painting of a woman's face is drawn by Rembrandt. In the reading, the author proclaims that such a piece is not drawn by Rembrandt while the lecturer contradicts this view by providing three specific reasons. First and foremost, the reading states that the inconsistency of the clothes in the portrait is contradictory with Rembrandt's style of carefulness because the woman is dressed with both an expensive fur collar and a linen cap which is only seen from servants. However, the lecturer argues that a recent research conducted on this portrait revealed that the inconsistent collar was drawn by later painters who wanted to increase the value of the portrait by wrapping it as a precious portrait of a real loyal lady. Moreover, the reading maintains that the illumination on woman's face doesn't fit with the light reflected by the fur collar, which is absolute not Rembrandt's style due to his expertise in painting light and shadow. Nevertheless, the lecturer doubts the view by stating that after removing the later added collar to recover the original piece, the woman is actually wearing light-colored clothes. In this way, the illumination on woman's face is accurately depicted since there is reflection from the clothes with light color. Last but not least, the reading material holds the belief that true pieces of Rembrandt are always painted on a single wood panels, rather than a panel made of many pieces of glued wood as this portrait does. The professor in the lecturer, on the contrary, points out that this portrait of woman is initially drawn on one panel. All the other glued woods are attached by the person who added the collar onto the portrait. The professor defends her own point by further explaining that research found out that the wood used in this portrait is actually from the same tree with another true piece of Rembrandt, which adds into the evidence.

Section Title: 6.文章修订

The passage and the lecture both discuss the authenticity of a painting attributed to Rembrandt, with the passage arguing against its legitimacy and the lecture providing evidence to support its authenticity. The lecturer refutes three main points made in the reading passage.

Firstly, the reading claims that there is an inconsistency in the subject's clothing, as she wears both a servant's linen cap and an expensive fur collar. This would be uncharacteristic of Rembrandt's attention to detail. However, the lecturer counters this by stating that recent research has shown that the fur collar was added later by another painter to increase the portrait's value, making it appear as a formal portrait of an aristocratic lady.

Secondly, the passage asserts that Rembrandt's mastery of light and shadow is not evident in this painting due to inconsistencies between the woman's illuminated face and her dark fur collar. The lecturer disputes this by explaining that once the added fur collar was removed, it revealed a light-colored cloth collar underneath which would reflect light onto her face. Thus, in its original form, the painting does display Rembrandt's skillful use of light and shadow.

Lastly, according to the reading, authentic Rembrandt paintings are always on single wood panels rather than multiple glued pieces like this portrait. Contradicting this point, the lecturer states that initially, this painting was on a single panel but was enlarged with additional pieces when the fur collar was added. Furthermore, researchers discovered that the wood used for this portrait came from the same tree as another confirmed Rembrandt painting.

In conclusion, despite initial doubts about its authenticity due to inconsistencies in clothing style and lighting as well as panel construction mentioned in reading passage; further examination presented by lecture provides compelling evidence supporting that "Portrait of an Elderly Woman in a White Bonnet" is indeed a genuine work by Rembrandt. While the reading demonstrates three problems with a painting that suggest the painting could not be a work by Rembrandt, the lecturer put forward three explanation to deal with the problems mentioned in the reading. To begin with, the author points out that the luxurious fur collar contradict with the identity of the servant woman. Nevertheless, the speaker retorts this by mentioning that scholars have analyzed the color and pigment used on the painting and found that the fur collar is not a part of the original painting of Rembrandt. Indeed, the fur collar is over top of the painting in order to increase the status of the painting and to make the lady in the painting look more formal. Another point proposed by the reading passage is that the light and shadow in the painting do not fit together which is an impossible error made by Rembrandt. Conversely, the professor argues that since the fur collar is not the original part of the painting, removing the collar rightly make the painting's light congruent since the light of original collar illuminate the woman's face. Finally, the writer concedes that the painting was painted on a panel made of several pieces of wood glued together while among Rembrandt's work no painting was used a panel glued together from several pieces of wood. However, the lecturer refutes this by claiming that some people have enlarge the painting to make it look more grand, and original painting was actually painted on a single piece of wood. Moreover, scholars have found that the wood used for the painting and another painting of Rembrandt were from the same tree.

Section Title: 6.文章修订

The reading passage presents three issues with a painting that casts doubt on its attribution to Rembrandt. However, the lecture provides explanations for each of these concerns, ultimately supporting the claim that the painting is indeed a work by Rembrandt.

Firstly, the reading passage highlights an inconsistency in the woman's attire, featuring a luxurious fur collar and a white linen cap typically worn by servants. The lecturer counters this argument by stating that further analysis revealed the fur collar was not part of Rembrandt's original painting. Instead, it was added later to enhance the painting's value and make it appear as a formal portrait of an aristocratic lady.

Thus, in its original form, the painting exhibits realistic light and shadow consistent with Rembrandt's style.

Lastly, while the writer argues that Rembrandt never used wood panels glued together from several pieces as found in this painting, the lecturer refutes this point by explaining that additional wood pieces were added when enlarging the panel to increase its grandeur and value. The original painting was actually on a single piece of wood - consistent with other works by Rembrandt. In contrast, the lecturer states several evidences that can support the fact that this painting was undoubtedly painted by him. First of all, the inconsistency of woman’s dressing can be explained by pigment analysis, which shows that the luxurious fur coat was added to the picture 100 years later the original painting was created. Section Title: 6. Revised Essay

The reading passage contends that some paintings attributed to Rembrandt may not have been his work, particularly one featuring a woman. Conversely, the lecturer provides compelling evidence to support the assertion that this painting was indeed created by Rembrandt, effectively refuting the reading passage's claims.

Firstly, the inconsistency in the woman's attire can be explained through pigment analysis. This analysis reveals that the luxurious fur collar was added to the painting approximately 100 years after its initial creation. It is likely that this modification was made to increase the painting's value by presenting it as a formal portrait of an aristocratic lady. In its original form, however, the woman's clothing is consistent and coherent.

Furthermore, the supposed discrepancy in light and shadow can also be attributed to this later addition. When examining the original artwork without the added fur collar, it becomes evident that a light-colored cloth collar beneath the woman's face reflects light onto her features in a natural and realistic manner. This illumination is consistent with Rembrandt's signature style.

Lastly, historical analysis of the wood panel on which this painting was created offers additional support for its attribution to Rembrandt. It has been discovered that this panel originates from the same tree as another known Rembrandt piece - his Self-Portrait with a Hat. This connection strengthens the argument for Rembrandt's authorship of both works.

In summary, persuasive and detailed evidence has been presented to confirm that this painting was indeed created by Rembrandt, effectively casting doubt on specific points made in the reading passage. (261 words)

The counterarguements draw by lecturer are more explanatory and convincing. ¶ First of all, the inconsistency of woman’s dressing woman's attire can be explained by through pigment analysis, which shows analysis (changed "dressing" to "attire" for a more formal tone). This analysis reveals that the luxurious fur coat collar was added to the picture painting approximately 100 years later the after its initial creation (clarified time frame). It is likely that this modification was made to increase the painting's value by presenting it as a formal portrait of an aristocratic lady. In its original painting was created. The reason why the picture was painted again form, however, the woman's clothing is possibly the merchant wanted to improve the price of the painting. However, the original consistent and coherent (rephrased for clarity).

painting was much consistent Furthermore, the supposed discrepancy in woman’s clothes. ¶ Moreover, the unfitness of the light and shadow can also be explained by repainting. attributed to this later addition (clarified relationship between light/shadow and addition). When we remove the later pigment and focus on examining the original masterpiece, below the woman’s artwork without the added fur collar, it becomes evident that a light-colored cloth collar beneath the woman's face reflects light onto her features in a natural and realistic manner. This illumination is lighting and the face illuminated by light so naturally can realistically which makes people believe that the painting was indeed draw by Rembrandt. consistent with Rembrandt's signature style (rephrased for better flow and clarity).

Lastly, there is another painting of Rembrandt which was painted on wood panel. Coincidentally, historical analysis found that the painting of woman is painted on the wood panel on which was this painting was created offers additional support for its attribution to Rembrandt (clarified connection between wood panel and attribution). It has been discovered that this panel originates from the same tree as another known Rembrandt piece - his Self-Portrait with the other painting. Therefore, it is incorrect to assume a Hat. This connection strengthens the argument for Rembrandt's authorship of both works (rephrased for better flow).

In summary, persuasive and detailed evidence has been presented to confirm that this painting is not by Rembrandt just from the glued pieces. ¶ All in all, convincing detailed evidences are presented to support that the painting is was indeed created by Rembrandt.Rembrandt, effectively casting doubt on specific points made in the reading passage (rephrased for clarity and natural tone).

The passage contends that the portrait of a woman is not painted by Rembrandt due to inconsistencies in her clothing. The woman in the painting wears a simple hat, indicating she is a servant, but her coat has an expensive fur collar. It argues that Rembrandt, known for his meticulous attention to detail, would not have made such an obvious mistake. However, the lecture disputes this claim, stating that the painting was altered after Rembrandt created it. The fur collar was added by someone else who wanted to sell the painting at a higher price by depicting a wealthier subject. In its original form, there were no issues with the combination of the hat and collar.

Secondly, the passage asserts that the handling of light and shadow in the painting is flawed. The reflection of light on the woman's face appears unrealistic due to the fur collar. It suggests that such an error would be unlikely for an accomplished artist like Rembrandt. Conversely, the speaker maintains that in its original state, with a simple cloth collar instead of fur, light and shadow are rendered realistically.

Lastly, the passage indicates that since no known Rembrandt paintings are found on glued panels like this one's wood panel construction, it cannot be his work. Nevertheless, the lecturer refutes this argument by explaining that additional wood pieces were glued to expand and enhance the painting's appearance after its creation. The original artwork did not have glued panels and was painted on a single piece of wood - consistent with other works by Rembrandt. (262 words)

The lecture presents recent findings that resolve the doubts raised in the reading passage regarding the attribution of the painting to Rembrandt. The speaker asserts that the painting was indeed created by Rembrandt but was later altered by someone else. Furthermore, he explains how these discoveries address the concerns about dress inconsistency, unrealistic lighting, and unusual panel construction mentioned in the reading.

Firstly, the reading passage claims that there is an inconsistency in the subject's attire. The lecture addresses this issue by explaining that the painting was modified by another artist who added a fur collar over the original white linen cap to increase its value. This alteration accounts for the inconsistency in clothing.

Secondly, the reading passage argues that there is an unrealistic depiction of light on the subject's face, which contradicts its surroundings. The speaker counters this point by stating that there is no issue with lighting in the original painting because it features only a white cap worn by the woman, which reflects light onto her face.

Lastly, concerning the glued wood panel mentioned in the reading passage, it is explained in the lecture that this was also a result of alterations made during repainting. The original artwork was completed on a single piece of wood from a tree used for another one of Rembrandt's paintings. This evidence further supports the conclusion presented in the lecture – that Portrait of an Elderly Woman in a White Bonnet is indeed a work by Rembrandt. (249 words)

The reading passage asserts that certain paintings attributed to Rembrandt may not have been created by him, providing three reasons to support this claim. However, the lecture disputes these points and provides evidence that the paintings were indeed painted by Rembrandt.

Firstly, the reading passage highlights an inconsistency in the woman's attire in one of the paintings, with a servant's cap paired with a luxurious fur collar. The lecture refutes this argument by revealing that X-ray analysis showed the fur collar was not part of the original painting but added later to increase its value. Thus, the original attire was consistent and does not support the claim of inconsistency.

Secondly, the passage emphasizes Rembrandt's mastery of light and shadow, suggesting that inconsistencies in these elements within the painting indicate it is not his work. However, the lecture counters this point by explaining that once the added fur collar was removed, revealing a light-colored cloth collar beneath it, light and shadow appeared more realistic and consistent with Rembrandt's style.

Lastly, the reading passage argues that Rembrandt would not have used multiple pieces of wood glued together for his painting panels. In contrast, the lecture contends that while extra wood pieces were added later to enlarge and increase its value, Rembrandt originally painted on a single piece of wood. Moreover, researchers discovered that this wood panel came from the same tree as another known Rembrandt painting.

In summary, each point raised in the reading passage is effectively countered by evidence provided in the lecture, casting doubt on claims that certain paintings attributed to Rembrandt were not actually created by him. (271 words)

The reading lists passage asserts that certain paintings attributed to Rembrandt may not have been created by him, providing three considerations that some paintings of Rembrandt not actually painted by him, such as a woman portrait. reasons to support this claim. However, the lecture explaining it is true disputes these points and provides evidence that the paintings were indeed painted by Rembrandt.

To begin with, Firstly, the reading demonstrates the passage highlights an inconsistency of the painting, presenting that the in the woman's attire in one of the paintings, with a servant's cap wearing by the woman is used by servants, and her coat has paired with a sumptuous luxurious fur collar that only can afford by rich people. (the original text mentioned an inconsistency in the painting but did not specify what it was). The lecture contradicts this by citing the evidence scanned by the X-ray. Surprisingly, refutes this argument by revealing that X-ray analysis showed the fur collar was not part of the original painting but added later to increase its value (this information was not provided in the original text). Thus, the original attire was consistent and does not support the claim of inconsistency.

Secondly, the passage emphasizes Rembrandt's mastery of light and shadow, suggesting that inconsistencies in these elements within the painting indicate it shows an unexpected fact that the colors on the painting wasn't original color. It was painted by the people who intense to increase the value of the painting, the original color is consistent, so this argument can't support the idea that the painting is inconsistent. ¶ Furthermore, the passage indicates Rembrandt is expertise in shadow and light, as the painting seems to be precisely reflected the circumstance in the real world. Nevertheless, not his work. However, the lecture counters that this point by explaining that once the added fur collar was removed, revealing a light-colored cloth collar beneath it shows simple color of light, in order to reflect the color to the woman's face, resulting (this detail was missing from the original text), light and shadow appeared more realistic than the passage explain. and consistent with Rembrandt's style.

Lastly, the view of the author deems that Rembrandt's reading passage argues that Rembrandt would not have used several multiple pieces of wood to glue a wood panel, but there are no paintings of Rembrandt known to use several panels pasted together. Instead, glued together for his painting panels. In contrast, the lecture contends that it is true that Rembrandt use an enlarged wood, but it's while extra wood pieces were added later to enlarge and increase its value (the original text did not mention this reason), Rembrandt originally painted on a single piece of wood. Rembrandt wanted to show a more grand and valuable painting. Additionally, the Moreover, researchers discovered that this wood panel came from the same tree as another known Rembrandt painting (this fact strengthens the argument made in favor of Rembrandt being responsible for creating these paintings).

In summary, each point raised in the reading passage is that the panels was from same pieces of wood, so the effectively countered by evidence from the article seems to be unconvincing.provided in the lecture, casting doubt on claims that certain paintings attributed to Rembrandt were not actually created by him.

In the passage, the author discussed whether the portrait of the woman's face was made by Rembrandt and indicated that it probably was not. However, in the lecture, the professor casts doubt on these arguments. First of all, the author elaborated that the woman was wearing a suit for servants and an expensive fur collar at the same time, and this inconsistency should not appear in Rembrandt's work who always paid much attention to details. On the contrary, the professor maintains that through nowadays examination by X-ray, we found that the color of the collar was changed to make it seem more expensive. And the original suit was suitable for a servant. Therefore, this directly contradicts what the passage indicated. Meanwhile, the second theory in that essay was that the elements of light and shadow did not fit together, considering Rembrandt was a master in this field, consequently implying that he didn't draw this painting. Nevertheless, the point of the professor conflicts with the essay, raising the issue that as long as we've already known that the color was modified, we check the original color. In the original version, the woman wears a light color suit, which will exactly lead to that patterns of light and shadow. This is another part where the professor disproves the essay. Finally, the essay mentioned that the portrait was painted on a panel made of several pieces of wood, while Rembrandt only used a panel made of a whole piece of wood. But the professor demonstrates that the other panels were added when modifying the fur color. Moreover, the original panel was made with the same tree as another painting drawn by Rembrandt, which means this portrait of the woman was exactly made by him.

Example 1: Instead of "through nowadays examination by X-ray," you could write "through a recent examination using X-ray technology."

Example 2: Instead of "raising the issue that as long as we've already known that the color was modified, we check the original color," you could write "the professor explains that once the original color was revealed through analysis, it became clear that the light and shadow patterns were consistent with Rembrandt's style."

Each paragraph focuses on a specific point from the lecture and provides supporting details from both the reading and listening materials. However, there is room for improvement in terms of organization and transitions between ideas and paragraphs.

Suggestions for improvement:

  1. Use clearer transition words or phrases to guide the reader through the essay and make the flow of ideas smoother.

  2. Make sure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that introduces the main point being discussed.

Example 1: Instead of "Meanwhile, the second theory in that essay was," you could write "Furthermore, the reading passage argues that."

In the passage, the author questions whether the portrait of a woman's face was created by Rembrandt, suggesting that it likely was not. However, in the lecture, the professor casts doubt on these arguments.

Firstly, the author points out an inconsistency in the woman's attire, as she is wearing both a servant's cap and an expensive fur collar. The author argues that Rembrandt, known for his attention to detail, would not have made such a mistake. In contrast, the professor explains that modern examinations using X-ray technology have revealed that the collar's color was altered to make it appear more valuable. The original garment was indeed suitable for a servant, directly contradicting the passage's claim.

Secondly, the passage asserts that there are discrepancies in light and shadow within the painting, which is uncharacteristic of Rembrandt's mastery in this area. However, the professor counters this argument by explaining that once we consider the original color of the collar (as revealed by X-ray examination), it becomes clear that light and shadow patterns are consistent with Rembrandt's style.

Lastly, the essay mentions that the portrait was painted on a panel made of several pieces of wood glued together – a technique not used by Rembrandt. The professor refutes this claim by stating that additional panels were added when modifying the fur collar. Furthermore, research has shown that the original panel came from the same tree as another painting by Rembrandt – his Self-Portrait with a Hat – providing strong evidence to support its authenticity as a work by Rembrandt himself. The professor casts doubt on the points made in the reading passage and insists that the painting, "Portrait of an Elderly Woman in a White Bonnet," was indeed created by Rembrandt.

Firstly, the professor challenges the notion that the luxurious fur collar is inconsistent with the white linen cap. The professor explains that this discrepancy is due to alterations made to the original painting about 100 years later, possibly to increase its value. Thus, Rembrandt did not make this apparent mistake.

Secondly, the professor disagrees with the reading passage's assertion that the woman's face should appear partially in shadow. In the original painting, the woman's collar is light-colored and reflects light onto her face, resulting in a realistic portrayal of light and shadow consistent with Rembrandt's style.

Finally, the professor addresses the discovery of the wood panel and refutes its implications as presented in the reading passage. It was found that someone unknown had enlarged the wood panel by adding extra pieces, while Rembrandt's original work was painted on a single piece of wood. Furthermore, research has shown that this wood came from the same tree used by Rembrandt for another masterpiece.

In light of these findings, it can be concluded that Rembrandt is indeed responsible for creating "Portrait of an Elderly Woman in a White Bonnet." (220 words)

The article states three ideas that suggest one of the paintings attributed to Rembrandt was not painted by him, while the lecturer claims the opposite view of them. Firstly, the writer suggests that Portrait of an Elderly Woman in a White Bonnet has some inconsistent about the way the woman in the portrait is dressed. In contrary, the speaker argues that X-rays and analysis of the pigments in the paint have shown that the fur collar wasn't part of the original painting. It was painted over the top of the original painting about a hundred years after the painting was made for making it look like a formal portrait of an aristocratic lady. In contrast to the reading passage's statement that the elements of light and shadow do not fit together in the Portrait of an Elderly Woman in a White Bonnet, the professor rebuts that in the original painting, the woman is wearing a simple collar of light-colored cloth, which reflects light that illuminates part of the woman's face. That's why the face is not in partial shadow. Lastly, the article believes that no painting known to be by Rembrandt uses a panel glued together in this way from several pieces of wood except this one. However, the lecturer reveals a fact that when the fur collar was added, the wood panel was also enlarged with extra wood pieces glued to the sides and the top to make the painting more grand and more valuable. The original painting is actually painted on a single piece of wood, as would be expected from a Rembrandt painting. Also, researchers have found that the piece of wood in the original form of "Portrait of an Elderly Woman in a White Bonnet" is from the very same tree as the wood panel used for another painting by Rembrandt.

The article presents three arguments suggesting that the painting "Portrait of an Elderly Woman in a White Bonnet" was not created by Rembrandt, while the lecturer contends that these points are invalid.

Firstly, the author asserts that there is an inconsistency in the way the woman in the portrait is dressed. Contrarily, the speaker explains that X-ray analysis and pigment examination have revealed that the fur collar was not part of the original painting. It was added approximately a hundred years later to make it appear as a formal portrait of an aristocratic lady.

Contradicting the reading passage's claim that light and shadow elements do not harmonize in "Portrait of an Elderly Woman in a White Bonnet," the professor counters that in the original painting, the woman wears a simple light-colored collar which reflects light onto her face. Consequently, her face is not partially shadowed as suggested by the author.

Lastly, while the article posits that no known Rembrandt paintings use wood panels glued together from several pieces except for this one, the lecturer unveils information stating that when the fur collar was added, extra wood pieces were also glued to enlarge and enhance its value. The original painting was actually created on a single piece of wood, consistent with other Rembrandt works. The passage and the lecture discuss whether the portrait an Elderly Woman was drawn by Rembrandt himself. While the reading asserts that it is Rembrandt's autograph, the professor argues that it isn't his painting, using three points to counter the inferences made in the reading. Firstly, the reading suggests that the collar of the garment doesn't fit with the cap and Rembrandt is meticulous with details so this portrait is not his masterpiece. The passage states that the white linen cap is specialized for servants while the extravagant fur collar surpluses servants' affordability. Thus they don't fit each other. Conversely, the professor argues that the original collar was replaced by the current luxurious collar a hundred years later for the sake that somebody wanted to increase its value. Therefore the collar doesn't fit the cap. Overall, the professor disagrees with the passage and considers that it is Rembrandt's work because original form of garments fit each other. Secondly, the passage posits that the light and shadow seem eccentric so it was not drawn by Rembrandt. It states that black collar would absorb instead of reflecting light on the woman's face so they look unfit. for further explanation, it suggests that Rembrandt is a master in presenting association between them, so it is weird for him to make any mistake on that aspect. However, the professor refutes this statement that the relationship between light and shadow is reasonable in the original portrait. He explains that the former collar is a simple white colour, which is able to reflect light on the woman's face. Therefore, regarding the relationship between light and shadow, it is realistic and reasonable. To summarise, the professor's point clashes with the passage that he considered that the portrait is drawn by Rembrandt himself as the light and shadow relation is reasonable in the original version. Ultimately, the reading declares that the wood panel at the back of the painting is made of several pieces glued together, and none of Rembrandt's work's back resembles that. So the passage asserts that it isn't his autograph. However, the professor disputes that the wood panel was enlarged by another person, and the panel is proved to be made by the same type of tree as Rembrandt's other masterpieces. he addresses that the painting's master made the panel grander to make it more valuable. In conclusion, the professor disagrees with the reading passage, and he believes that the painting is an autograph of Rembrandt.

Firstly, the reading suggests that there is an inconsistency in the woman's attire, as she wears a white linen cap typical for servants and a luxurious fur collar beyond a servant's means. The passage states that Rembrandt is meticulous with details, so this portrait cannot be his masterpiece. Conversely, the professor argues that the original collar was replaced by the current luxurious collar a hundred years later because someone wanted to increase its value. Therefore, in its original form, the garments fit each other appropriately. Overall, the professor disagrees with the passage and considers it to be Rembrandt's work due to this coherence.

Secondly, the passage posits that there is an oddity in light and shadow within the painting which would not be expected from Rembrandt's skillful technique. It states that a dark fur collar would absorb light instead of reflecting it onto the woman's face, creating an unnatural appearance. However, the professor refutes this statement by explaining that in its original form without added fur collar, light and shadow are reasonable within this portrait. He explains that originally, there was a simple white collar capable of reflecting light onto her face. Therefore, regarding their relationship within this painting, it appears realistic and consistent with Rembrandt's style.

Lastly, according to reading material, one of their reasons for doubting its authenticity is because of how wood panels were glued together at back of painting - which isn't seen in any other known works by Rembrandt. The article posits that a famous painting attributed to Rembrandt may not actually be his work, providing three reasons to support this claim. However, during the listening section, the professor challenges these concerns and presents a divergent viewpoint on the matter. Initially, the author asserts that there is an inconsistency between Rembrandt's typical style and the portrayal of the woman in the painting. Specifically, her attire does not coordinate with her apparent social status; her clothes appear too expensive for a servant. Conversely, the lecturer espouses a contrasting stance, explaining that through X-ray analysis, experts discovered that the luxurious fur collar was added approximately one hundred years later, possibly to increase its value. Furthermore, the lecturer casts doubt on another reason provided by the author: that Rembrandt would not have used light and shadow in such a manner as depicted in this painting. The professor demonstrates that recent additions of light color also contribute to making the painting appear more realistic. Lastly, the author's third contention – which states that Rembrandt would not have painted on several wooden panels glued together – is similarly refuted by the lecturer. The professor astutely highlights that enlarging and enhancing paintings' value was common practice at that time. Although Rembrandt typically painted on single wooden panels, it does not mean he could not use multiple pieces of wood together to create a complete work of art.

示例2: 原文:“Although Rembrandt typically painted on single wooden panels, it does not mean he could not use multiple pieces of wood together to create a complete work of art.” 改进后:“The professor points out that when the fur collar was added, the wood panel was also enlarged with extra wood pieces glued to it. The original painting was actually on a single piece of wood, which is consistent with Rembrandt's known works.”

示例1: 原文:“However, during the listening section, the professor challenges these concerns and presents a divergent viewpoint on the matter.” 改进后:“However, during the listening section, the professor systematically refutes each of these points by providing new evidence and explanations.”

示例2: 原文:“Conversely, the lecturer espouses a contrasting stance, explaining that through X-ray analysis, experts discovered that the luxurious fur collar was added approximately one hundred years later, possibly to increase its value.” 改进后:“Conversely, the lecturer directly addresses this issue by explaining that through X-ray analysis and pigment examination, experts discovered that the luxurious fur collar was not part of Rembrandt's original painting but was added approximately one hundred years later to increase its value.”

5. 语法批改

Section Title: 6.文章修订

The reading passage argues that a particular painting attributed to Rembrandt may not be his work, citing three reasons to support this assertion. However, the lecture challenges these points and offers alternative explanations for each concern.

Firstly, the author highlights an inconsistency in the woman's attire in the painting, suggesting that Rembrandt would not have made such a mistake. In contrast, the lecturer explains that X-ray analysis revealed that the luxurious fur collar was added much later, possibly to increase the painting's value.

Secondly, the reading passage claims that Rembrandt would not have used light and shadow as depicted in this painting. The professor counters this argument by stating that once the added fur collar was removed, the original light-colored cloth collar accurately reflected light onto the woman's face, creating a realistic effect consistent with Rembrandt's style.

Finally, the author contends that Rembrandt would not have painted on several wooden panels glued together. The lecturer refutes this point by explaining that when the fur collar was added, extra wood pieces were also glued to enlarge and enhance the painting's value. In fact, researchers found that the original single piece of wood used for this painting came from the same tree as another confirmed Rembrandt work.

In conclusion, each of the concerns raised by the author is effectively countered by alternative explanations provided by the lecturer. These new insights cast doubt on whether or not these issues truly discredit Rembrandt as being responsible for this particular piece of art. (251 words)

The author in the reading passage cites three reasons to support the view that the painting with an elderly woman could not be authentic. However, the lecturer in the listening part presents a contrasting perspective on this issue. Firstly, the author claims that there is an inconsistency with the woman's dressing. To be specific, she is wearing a white linen cap that would only be wore by servants, yet the coat she is wearing has a luxurious fur collar. Moreover, the author mentions that as a famous painter, Rembrandt would not have been guilty of such an inconsistency. The lecturer in the listening disputes the point by highlighting the fact that the fur color of the painting was not original, it was repainted 100 years after the painting by someone who wanted to increase the value of the painting. Secondly, the author suggests that the face of the woman should appear partially in shadow due to the light light reflected from the dark coat below which is not how it appears now. The lecturer argues that after the color was removed from the painting, we could see the original color of the coat was light, thus that explains the reason why the face doesn't appear partially in shadow. Therefore the light and shadow are just as realistic as we expect. 3.Task completeness The essay does a good job of addressing the specific requirements of the task, summarizing the points made in the lecture and explaining how they cast doubt on the points made in the reading passage. However, there is room for improvement in terms of clarity and precision.

Suggestions for improvement:

  • Be more concise when summarizing points from both the reading and listening passages.

  • Avoid repeating phrases or words too often.

Examples:

  1. Instead of "The lecturer in the listening disputes the point by highlighting...", you could write "The lecturer disputes this by highlighting...".

  2. Instead of "the face doesn't appear partially in shadow. Therefore the light and shadow are just as realistic as we expect.", you could write "the face is not partially shadowed, making light and shadow realistic as expected from Rembrandt."

4.Essay structure and organization The essay has a clear structure with an introduction, body, and conclusion. The organization is logical, with each paragraph focusing on a specific point and supporting details. However, there is room for improvement in terms of transitions between ideas and paragraphs.

Suggestions for improvement:

  • Use more varied transition words or phrases to connect ideas smoothly.

  • Ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence.

Examples:

  1. Instead of starting a paragraph with "Firstly," "Secondly," or "Lastly," try using other transition words like "In addition," "Moreover," or "Furthermore."

  2. For better topic sentences, instead of writing "Firstly, the author claims that there is an inconsistency with the woman's dressing.", you could write "One issue raised by the author is an inconsistency in the woman's attire."

The passage presents concerns regarding the attribution of a painting to Rembrandt, citing inconsistencies in the subject's attire, errors in light and shadow, and the use of a glued-together wood panel. The lecturer, however, refutes these points by providing evidence that supports the claim that Rembrandt did indeed create the painting.

Firstly, the passage highlights an inconsistency in the woman's attire, which is unusual given Rembrandt's attention to detail. The lecturer counters this by revealing that a more thorough examination of the painting uncovered an additional layer of pigment added later to increase its value. Consequently, the original painting does not exhibit this inconsistency.

Secondly, the passage asserts that there is an error in light and shadow usage within the painting - a mistake unlikely to be made by Rembrandt. Nevertheless, the lecturer explains that after removing the added pigment layer, it becomes apparent that light illuminates the woman's face correctly, resulting in a more realistic portrayal.

Lastly, while the passage states that Rembrandt typically used single wood panels for his paintings rather than glued-together pieces as seen in this artwork, the lecturer clarifies that these additional wood pieces were added later by a collector. In fact, research has shown that the original single piece of wood used for this painting comes from the same tree as another known Rembrandt piece.

In essence, both passage and lecture present differing perspectives on whether or not this painting can be attributed to Rembrandt. While three points of concern are raised in the passage to argue against its authenticity as a work by Rembrandt, each point is effectively countered by evidence provided by the lecturer who demonstrates how collectors' alterations have obscured its true origins. The lecture primarily disputes the advantages of a four-day workweek as opposed to a traditional five-day workweek, contrasting with the assertions made in the reading passage. Firstly, the professor challenges the reading's claim that a four-day workweek would increase company profits. Contrary to this assertion, the lecturer contends that implementing such a schedule would necessitate hiring additional staff, thereby increasing expenses on training and health insurance for new employees. Furthermore, accommodating these new hires would require more office space and equipment, such as computers. Consequently, these added costs would offset any potential profit gains. In addition, the lecture refutes the reading's idea that employees working a four-day week would enjoy more free time and an improved quality of life. The professor highlights potential issues such as increased work pressure due to companies expecting their employees to complete the same amount of work in fewer days. This heightened workload could ultimately lead to a decline in overall quality of life for those employees who opt for a shorter workweek. Lastly, while the reading suggests that a four-day workweek could enhance an employee's personal life, the lecture presents opposing arguments. The professor notes that reduced working hours might negatively impact employees' job stability and career advancement opportunities. In times of economic downturns, those working fewer days are more likely to face job loss due to their perceived lower commitment levels. Moreover, companies may prefer promoting full-time employees into management positions to ensure continuous coverage and consistent supervision throughout the entire workweek. As a result, individuals who choose a four-day workweek may encounter challenges in achieving long-term career success and maintaining job security. Overall, the lecture casts doubt on several key points made in the reading passage regarding potential benefits of adopting a four-day workweek for companies and their employees.

6.文章修订

The lecture primarily disputes the advantages of a four-day workweek in comparison to a traditional five-day workweek, presenting a stark contrast to the assertions made in the reading passage.

Initially, the professor challenges the reading's claim that a four-day workweek would bolster company profits. In opposition to this assertion, the lecturer contends that implementing such a schedule would necessitate hiring additional staff, thereby augmenting expenses on training and health insurance for new employees. Furthermore, accommodating these new hires would demand more office space and equipment, such as computers. Consequently, these added costs would offset any potential profit gains and undermine the reading's argument.

Moreover, the lecture refutes the reading's notion that employees working a four-day week would relish more free time and an enhanced quality of life. The professor highlights potential drawbacks such as increased work pressure due to companies expecting their employees to complete an equivalent amount of work in fewer days. This heightened workload could ultimately lead to stress and burnout, resulting in a decline in overall quality of life for those employees who opt for a shorter workweek.

Lastly, while the reading suggests that a four-day workweek could enrich an employee's personal life, the lecture presents opposing arguments. The professor notes that reduced working hours might adversely impact employees' job stability and career advancement opportunities. In times of economic downturns, those working fewer days are more likely to face job loss due to their perceived lower commitment levels, as employers may view them as less dedicated and less valuable than full-time employees. Moreover, companies may prefer promoting full-time employees into management positions to ensure continuous coverage and consistent supervision throughout the entire workweek. As a result, individuals who choose a four-day workweek may encounter challenges in achieving long-term career success and maintaining job security.

In summary, by presenting compelling counterarguments against key points made in the reading passage regarding potential benefits of adopting a four-day workweek, the lecture casts doubt on the overall effectiveness of such a policy for both companies and their employees. (338 words)

Revised Essay:

From my standpoint, global warming is the most pressing environmental issue worldwide. The escalating temperatures contribute to rising sea levels, which threaten numerous coastal regions. I propose two potential solutions to mitigate this problem.

Firstly, governments should incentivize factories that achieve carbon neutrality by providing them with awards or financial benefits. This strategy would motivate these establishments to invest in innovative technologies capable of controlling the carbon dioxide emissions present in their waste products.

Secondly, I concur with Paul's suggestion to a certain extent; however, I believe that governments should encourage citizens to purchase new energy vehicles instead of merely banning car usage. Automobiles are difficult to replace and an outright ban would cause significant inconvenience for the public. Therefore, promoting the acquisition of environmentally friendly alternatives such as electric cars would be a more effective approach in addressing global warming concerns. (147 words)

Section Title: 6.文章修订

In the reading material, the author cites three problems with a certain painting to support the viewpoint that it was not created by Rembrandt. Nevertheless, the lecturer in the listening material argues that the painting is indeed by Rembrandt and opposes the points in the reading material.

First and foremost, the author argues that Rembrandt was a meticulous artist who paid close attention to the details of his subjects' clothing. However, there is an inconsistency between the linen cap and fur collar worn by the woman in the painting. The lecturer offers an opposing perspective, stating that based on X-ray analysis of pigments, it was discovered that the fur collar was added a hundred years later by someone who wanted to increase its value.

In addition, the writer contends that there are issues with light and shadow in the painting, while Rembrandt was known as a master of these elements. The professor challenges this opinion, explaining that once the added fur collar was removed, it revealed that the woman wore a simple light-colored cloth which reflected light onto her face. This relationship between light and shadow is consistent with what one would expect from Rembrandt.

Finally, the reading passage asserts that this painting used a panel made of several pieces of wood glued together - something not found in any other known works by Rembrandt. This idea is also counteracted by the lecturer who points out that initially, it was painted on a single piece of wood. The panel was enlarged when extra wood pieces were added along with fur collar later on. Furthermore, researchers have found that wood from this original painting came from the same tree used for another one of Rembrandt's paintings.

Thus, contrary to what is mentioned in reading passage about inconsistencies in clothing details and use of multiple wooden panels for creating artwork; listening passage provides evidence supporting attribution of this painting to Rembrandt through X-ray analysis revealing added fur collar, correct light and shadow depiction, and the use of a single wooden panel. In the reading material, the author provides three reasons to support his viewpoint that a portrait of a woman is not the piece of Rembrandt. Nevertheless, in the listening material, the professor argues that this portrait is indeed painted by Rembrandt and opposes the reasons in the reading material. First and foremost, the author argues that the linen cap of the woman worn only by servants inconsists with the luxurious fur collar in the painting. However, the professor holds an opposite stand that it's because the painting has been changed. With the help of X ray, people find that the portrait is not the original one. Someone has added the fur collar to cover the original clothes after the painting had been created hundreds of years to make it formal, to increase its value. In addition, the professor also casts doubt on the author's another reason that the woman's face shouldn't be illuminated since the fur collar absorbs light. The professor demonstrates that in the original painting, the woman wears a simple light color cloth, and the cloth illuminates the woman's face so the face is not in partial shadow. The light and shadow in the original one is quite realistic as we expect for Rembrandt. Finally, the author's third reason that the portraint is on a panel made of several pieces of wood glued together which wouldn't be used by Rembrandt, is also counteracted by the professor. The professor points out that those pieces of wood glued to the painting were used to make the original work looked more grand. Actually, the original work was painted on a simple piece of wood which matches the very same tree used in Rembrandt's self portrait.

The reading passage presents that a painting was not actually patinted by Rembrandt. However, the professor introduces new research on it to expalin it is authentic. Firstly, the passages claims that the inconsistence in the portraiture reveals that this is attributed to Rembrandt. The inconsistence refers to the coexistence of luxurious fur collar and those wore by servants. In contrast, the professor cast doubts on this because the fur collar had been covered by other painter one hundred years later after the portrait was finished. Thus the premise of this argument does not work. Second, the professor explains that the painting follows the techniques of Rembrandt which reflected the real situation about light, because the place which disproves this actually came from the change caused by later painters. Once we undo the added layer, the original color would be seen as the way the reality should be. This contradicts the views claimed by the passage. Lastly, the passage states that the back of the painting shows that this painting is unlikely work of Rembrandt since it seems to be painted on a panel of wood glued together, which is never been documented in other works of him. To oppose this proposal, the professor suggests that the trace of glued wood again originated from the painter who added the new layer, so this does not generate the evidence to refute the possibility of Rembrandt painted it. In addition, researshers discoverd that the painting was composed on a panel made of wood Rembrandt usually used, this counter the passage's opinion further more.

The reading passage asserts that a particular painting was not created by Rembrandt, while the lecture provides new research to support its authenticity.

Firstly, the passage claims that inconsistencies in the portrait suggest it is not a genuine Rembrandt piece. Specifically, it points out the unusual combination of a luxurious fur collar and a white linen cap typically worn by servants. In contrast, the professor casts doubt on this argument by explaining that the fur collar was added by another painter one hundred years after the portrait's completion. Consequently, this inconsistency does not disprove Rembrandt's authorship.

Secondly, the professor addresses the issue of light and shadow in the painting, which is mentioned in the passage as evidence against Rembrandt's involvement. The lecture explains that once the added fur collar layer is removed, the original light-colored cloth collar becomes visible. This collar reflects light onto the woman's face in a manner consistent with Rembrandt's technique, contradicting the passage's assertion.

Lastly, the passage argues that because of its glued-together wood panel construction – a method not documented in any other known works by Rembrandt – this painting cannot be attributed to him. However, according to the professor, this panel modification also resulted from alterations made by later painters. Moreover, researchers have discovered that the original single-piece wood panel used for this painting matches those typically employed by Rembrandt. This finding further counters and weakens the argument presented in the reading passage. (242 words)

The lecture revises the idea presented in the text, that Rembrandt was not the artist who painted the famous painting “Portrait of an Elderly Woman in a White Bonnet”. The inconsistency between the white cap, which identifies the woman as a servant, and the expensive fur collar she wears dissolves as the Professor explains that the fur collar was apparently painted over the original painting to increase its worth by displaying an aristocratic woman. In addition, the assumption that light and shadow in the painting do not fit together is refuted by the fact that in the original painting, the woman wears a light cloth that illuminated her face. Thus the presentation of light and shadow was indeed very realistic and accurate, as it is characteristic of Rembrandt’s paintings. Finally, the mystery of the panel consisting of patches glued together is also solved in the lecture.Actually, the wood panel was later enlarged to make it more grand and valuable, but the original painting was painted on a single panel, as Rembrandt would have done it. Furthermore, the wood is of the same tree used in other Rembrandt paintings, like the “Self-Portrait with a Hat”. The lecture challenges the notion presented in the reading passage that Rembrandt was not the artist behind the renowned painting "Portrait of an Elderly Woman in a White Bonnet."

The inconsistency between the white cap, signifying the woman as a servant, and the lavish fur collar she dons is clarified by the professor's explanation that the fur collar was added to the original painting to enhance its value by portraying an aristocratic lady.

Moreover, the claim that light and shadow in the painting are incompatible is debunked by revealing that in the original artwork, the woman wore a light-colored collar that illuminated her face. Consequently, the depiction of light and shadow was indeed realistic and precise, as is typical of Rembrandt's masterpieces.

Lastly, the enigma surrounding the panel composed of glued-together pieces is resolved in the lecture. In reality, while it was later expanded to make it more grandiose and valuable, initially it featured a single panel – as Rembrandt would have executed it. Furthermore, research has discovered that this wood originated from the same tree used in other Rembrandt paintings such as "Self-Portrait with a Hat."

Collectively, this evidence strongly suggests that Rembrandt was indeed responsible for creating this contentious piece of art. (207 words)
