This week, we will be looking at how consumers feel about their purchases of technology. Many people find that buying devices such as mobile phones or personal computers can be very difficult. They feel like they’re not prepared to make the best decision to suit their needs. In your posts, I want you to discuss the following question: What do you believe is the biggest mistake that people make when buying tech products? Explain what this mistake is.

Claire

I think one problem is that people don’t match the product’s capabilities to their actual needs. My brother just got a new mobile phone, and he is very excited about how highly rated the camera is. But he hardly ever takes photos. So he paid for a feature that he doesn’t really need.

Paul

When people buy a new piece of hardware, like a laptop, they often don’t consider the software they are purchasing along with the hardware. If the software is not what you are used to or doesn’t work with your existing files, it can be frustrating to learn a new way of using your laptop.

As far as I am concerned, I firmly believe that buying tech products without consideration is the biggest mistake. There are so many products in the market, since they are always with some attractive advertisement, people will easily be attracted by them and make the decisions to buy some tech products like smart phones and laptops. But the illusion of the advertisement usually promts consumers risky decisions. For an instance, the beautiful image and fancy videos fo a new smart phone will really attractive thus you want to buy it immedieately even you had you new phone serveral months ago. And if you buy it, you will find you do not need it in fact. Claire make a compelling example for us, there are always some fancy functions on new tech products which you actually will not use it at all but seemly useful. So, in light of these arguments, I would in favor of the idea that purchasing tech products without consideration will be the biggest mistake.

Section Title: 6 Article Revision

In my opinion, the most significant mistake people make when purchasing tech products is failing to thoroughly evaluate their needs and the product's features. The market is inundated with various devices, often accompanied by enticing advertisements that can easily sway consumers into making impulsive decisions. For example, an individual may be captivated by a smartphone's sleek design and impressive promotional videos, leading them to purchase it despite having acquired a new phone just a few months prior. Upon reflection, they may realize that they did not actually need the new device.

Claire's example of her brother buying a phone with a highly-rated camera despite rarely taking photos illustrates this issue perfectly. Consumers often fall for the allure of seemingly useful features without considering whether they will genuinely utilize them. Therefore, it is crucial for individuals to carefully assess their requirements and resist the temptation of purchasing tech products based solely on superficial factors or marketing tactics. While I can see Paul's point that one of the biggest problems people will face with when purchasing is that people may chose the wrong software, I agree with Clair's perspective that it is the mismatch between the product's capabilities and people's actual needs that contributes to big problems. As mentioned by Claire, people may be attracted by some fancy functions of the products that they will hardly use. As a result, after a long time, people may still not good at using the products and many features of the products may not be even used. Apart from what Claire has raised, I add that the reason of this phenomenon related to the advertisements. To be more specific, some companies are likely to exaggerate their products for the sake of increasing sales.

In response to Dr. Diaz's question, I concur with Claire's viewpoint that the most significant mistake people make when purchasing tech products is the misalignment between the product's capabilities and their actual needs. As Claire illustrated, individuals may be enticed by advanced features that they rarely utilize. Consequently, they may struggle to fully understand and utilize the product, leaving many of its functions untouched. In addition to Claire's observation, I believe this issue is exacerbated by misleading advertisements. Specifically, some companies tend to overstate their products' capabilities in order to boost sales, further contributing to consumer confusion and dissatisfaction. (103 words)

Both Claire and Paul have raised up some compelling viewpoints. From my perspective, the primary issue I usually encounter while buying electronic devices is that they're risk being obsolete and soon lose interests in that product. Take, for example, the electronic timer I bought last year. Initially I was attracted by the advertisement of its portable shape and appealing colors, announcing that this timer can drive me out of the addition of using mobile phones while concentrating on crucial tasks. I excitedly adopt it to my study. Nonetheless, after a trial for a month, I soon found boring and unnecessary about this device, as there's another product that was launched with even more cute size and more diverse functions than mine. That's why I was quiet disappointed about my purchasing last time.

Claire and Paul have both presented intriguing perspectives on consumer behavior. In my opinion, the primary challenge I often face when purchasing electronic devices is their potential obsolescence, which can lead to a diminished interest in the product. In today's rapidly evolving technological landscape, electronic devices have become an integral part of our daily lives. We communicate with others through phones, complete tasks using computers, and clean our homes with advanced appliances. However, there are often overlooked issues that arise when purchasing tech products. In my opinion, the most critical mistake people make is neglecting to invest in insurance for their devices.

Undoubtedly, tech products offer numerous benefits, particularly mobile phones. To make these devices more portable and user-friendly, manufacturers often replace heavier components with lighter ones. As a result, mobile phones have become increasingly fragile. It is not uncommon to hear stories of individuals accidentally damaging their newly purchased devices within a matter of weeks or even days.

Repairing such high-tech gadgets can be quite costly due to the sophisticated technology involved. By opting for insurance at the time of purchase, consumers can save money on potential repairs or even secure a replacement if necessary. This proactive approach not only provides financial protection but also contributes to a more satisfying ownership experience overall. (180 words)

Admittedly, Claire and Paul are right when they say that people may not need the products they purchase or they will realize hardware problems as soon as they brought products home. In addition to their opinions, another point I want to add is the wrong purpose people buy a product: to compare with other peers, or for the happiness to have the newest type of product. With the fast development of the world, the speed of inventing new types of products is increasing, making a lot of people want to own the newest type of product and show off with their friends. As the price of the latest type of product is the most expensive one, people who purchase them will spend a lot of money maybe because of their impulsions, entailing the regretful feeling about spending such a large amount of money. On the other hand, take iPhone as an example, if your friend has the latest type of iPhone, maybe in some context you will feel uncomfortable, and therefore buy the same type of iPhone as her to show the power. Hadn't you bought the iPhone, you would not regret it.

文章的结构和组织方面还有待提高。首先,在引言部分简要介绍你将讨论的主题,并提出自己的观点。接下来,在正文部分逐一讨论你的论点,并用具体例子支持它们。最后,在结论部分总结你的观点并重申主题。

Example 1: Introduction: "In response to Professor Diaz's question about the biggest mistake people make when buying tech products, I believe that purchasing items for the wrong reasons, such as to impress others or to own the latest model, is a significant issue."

Example 2: Body paragraph: "One reason people make mistakes when buying tech products is the desire to keep up with their peers. Undoubtedly, Claire and Paul raise valid concerns regarding individuals purchasing products they may not need or encountering hardware issues soon after bringing their devices home. However, I would like to contribute another perspective to this discussion: the misguided motivation behind purchasing tech products, such as peer comparison or the desire for the latest gadgets. Rapid technological advancements have led to an increasing rate of new product releases, fueling a consumerist mindset where many individuals aspire to own the most recent devices and flaunt them among their social circles. Consequently, these consumers often impulsively spend exorbitant amounts of money on cutting-edge technology, only to later experience buyer's remorse.

Furthermore, consider the example of iPhone ownership. If a friend possesses the latest model, one might feel compelled to purchase the same device in order to maintain social standing or project an image of success. However, if one had resisted this urge and refrained from buying the iPhone in question, they might have avoided feelings of regret altogether. (170 words)

In response to the professor’s inquiry, I think the biggest mistake that people make when buying tech products is that they generally buy something that mismatches their needs as highlighted by Claire. For example, many people are addicted to the newest products promoted by producers, they can wait for long hours in line to get the newest iPhone series and show off the devices to their friends and family members. But in fact, they may not know how to operate the basic functions of the newest iPhone, such as the camera. So many people just use the professional camera function provided by the iPhone to take amateur photos. Furthermore, many people tend to buy the most advanced gadgets, but they only need the basic function. For instance, the newest iPhone series has the superior functions of making videos or taking professional pictures. While many people use iPhones mainly for making or receiving calls, they don’t need to produce videos or take photos. In summary, I think the mismatch between people’s needs and the product’s capabilities is the biggest problem.

In response to the professor's question, I believe that the most significant error individuals commit when purchasing technological products is acquiring items that do not align with their requirements, as emphasized by Claire. A prime example is the widespread obsession with obtaining the latest gadgets promoted by manufacturers. Numerous individuals eagerly wait in long queues to secure the newest iPhone series, only to flaunt their devices among friends and family members. However, many of these consumers may lack knowledge of basic functions such as operating the camera effectively. Consequently, they end up utilizing sophisticated camera features intended for professional use to capture amateur photographs.

Moreover, there is a tendency for people to gravitate towards cutting-edge devices despite only requiring rudimentary functionalities. While Paul makes a compelling argument about the importance of the software, I contend that the most critical mistake that people make nowadays lies in the overlooking of the product's capabilities. This would cause a such inclination in efficiency. For instance, I bought a Mac in the beginning of this semester ,I did not consider thoroughly and just purchased it based on preference. During the Electric Circuit course, the professor asked us to design a logical circuit in a software called Multisim. Unfortunately, I found that software can only be used on Windows. As a result, I had to installed the Windows system which costs me a large sum of money. That is the biggest mistake I ever made during the process of buying tech products.

While Paul makes a compelling argument about the importance of the software, I contend that the most critical mistake that people make nowadays lies in the overlooking of the product's capabilities. This would cause a such inclination in efficiency. For instance, I bought a Mac in the beginning of this semester ,, (Use of whitespace before comma and before/after parentheses)I did not consider thoroughly and just purchased it based on preference. During the Electric Circuit course, the professor asked us to design a logical circuit in a software called Multisim[No Replacement Word Found](misspelling). In response to the professor's question, I would like to assert that a prevalent issue in consumer behavior today is the tendency to overlook a product's capabilities, which can lead to decreased efficiency and potential complications. For example, at the beginning of this semester, I purchased a Mac without thorough consideration, merely based on personal preference. During my Electric Circuit course, our professor required us to design a logical circuit using Multisim software. Regrettably, I discovered that this software is only compatible with Windows operating systems. Consequently, I had to incur additional expenses to install Windows on my Mac. This experience highlights the significance of carefully evaluating a product's features and compatibility before making a purchase decision in order to avoid costly mistakes and ensure optimal utilization of technology. In response to the professor's question, I believe that the biggest mistake people may make when buying tech goods is that people buy the products in the offline stores. One drawback of buying products in the offline stores is that the price there will be much higher than the online store, because they have to pay ground rent. For instance, my friend once bought a computer from a local store, the shop assistant told my friend this is the cheapest good he can get. Nevertheless, when he searched this computer in the online store, he found that it is actually much cheaper than the offline store. What's more, if we buy the products from the offline store, we are more likely to get a fake computer because unlike the online store, it is hard for you to return the goods.

In my opinion, the biggest problem is that there are numerous sources of information on the internet, which will definitely mislead comsumers. More specifically, because of the arrival of technological age, everyone can deliver and obtain information from the search engines with great efficiency. Also, each consumer can share his or her viewpoints about the products. Consequently, there will be a large quantity of information about all the products, resulting in information anxiety for consumers. In this way, people feel it difficult and challenging to select a product to purchase. Take me, a representative comsumer among millions of others, for instance. Last month I wanted to buy a new computer, so I searched information about different brands of computers. However, on the website, there were hundreds of comments under each type of device, making me feel confused about the products' advantages and disadvantages. Had it not been for the internet, I would not choose products with such a great level of difficulty. In conclusion, I firmly believe that the excessive amount of information on the internet is the most serious problem for us to cope with.

In my perspective, the most significant issue consumers face when purchasing tech products is the overwhelming amount of information available online, which often leads to confusion and indecision. The advent of the digital age has enabled individuals to access and disseminate information with remarkable efficiency. As a result, consumers can readily share their opinions on various products, leading to an abundance of data that may cause information anxiety.

For example, as an average consumer, I recently experienced this challenge when searching for a new computer. Upon browsing the internet for different brands and models, I encountered hundreds of comments under each device, making it difficult to discern the products' strengths and weaknesses. As an illustration, an architecture student wants to buy high-tech calculator to learn math, but this will not enhance their skills as math plays a minimal role in design. Although Paul tightly mentioned the problem of incompatible software, students need not consider this if they do not use the products at all, rendering software have no place in this condition. In addition to Claire's argument, I would like to suggest that people are more likely to buy products they do not need due to peer influence. For example, an architecture student would like to buy a new, high-tech computer with GTX4090 graphic card because other students use them for rendering. However, students only need to make a few rendered pictures throughout the year, leading to the cost of new laplop only a waste of money. Therefore, it is evident that the significant mistake is buying products with no need due to its fruquency and impact on their finances.

Title: 6 文章修订

While I understand Paul's viewpoint regarding the potential mistake of purchasing software that does not align with one's needs, I concur with Claire's stance that acquiring unnecessary products poses greater problems. As Claire emphasized, it is a critical error for individuals to invest in items they do not require. For instance, an architecture student may want to buy a high-tech calculator to improve their math skills, but this will not enhance their abilities since mathematics plays a minimal role in design. Although Paul rightly mentioned the issue of incompatible software, students need not consider this if they do not use the products at all, rendering software irrelevant in this situation.

In addition to Claire's argument, I would like to propose that people are more likely to purchase products they do not need due to peer influence. For example, an architecture student might be tempted to buy a new high-tech computer with a GTX4090 graphics card because other students use them for rendering. However, students only need to create a few rendered images throughout the year, leading to the cost of a new laptop being an unnecessary expenditure.

Therefore, it is evident that the most significant mistake is buying products without genuine necessity due to its frequency and impact on one's finances. (214 words)

In my opinion, the most significant mistake individuals make when purchasing technological products is placing excessive trust in advertisements. This often leads to the discovery of numerous drawbacks after it is too late to return the product and obtain a refund. Advertisements can be helpful and efficient for customers to gain basic knowledge about a product through concise yet vivid introductions provided by various media platforms. However, some advertisements may intentionally conceal the disadvantages of tech products, resulting in a mismatch between the product's capabilities and the consumer's actual needs, as Claire mentioned.

Moreover, impulsive buying behavior can be significantly influenced by advertisements. With captivating slogans and futuristic images, consumers can easily become intrigued and excited without considering their financial capacity to afford such high-tech devices. This phenomenon might explain why many young people are currently experiencing greater debt pressure compared to older generations. (149 words)

For instance, every one knows that tech devices with various brighter colors are more expensive, especially iPhone. The colorful one always cost more than some basic phones, such as black and white. Even though people know this trick, they still tend to buy the most cutest phone and design. Secondly, through considering before purchase something can enhance efficiency. The essay addresses the professor's question by expressing an opinion and contributing to the discussion. However, there is room for improvement in terms of clarity, elaboration, and language use. The essay could benefit from clearer examples and a more focused approach to the topic.

Suggestions for improvement:

  • Provide more specific examples to support your viewpoint.

  • Focus on one main idea per paragraph.

  • Improve grammar and vocabulary usage.

Example 1: Original: "Moreover, in my opinion, people always buy certain tech products that based on their nice level." Improved: "Moreover, in my opinion, people often purchase tech products based on their aesthetic appeal rather than their actual needs."

The essay has a basic structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the organization could be improved by focusing on one main idea per paragraph and using clear transitions between ideas.

Suggestions for improvement:

  • Clearly state your main idea in each paragraph.

  • Use transitions to connect ideas within paragraphs and between paragraphs.

Example 1: Original: "First of all, people can save a lot of money by carefully decide something before they purchase it." Improved: "Firstly, by carefully considering their needs before making a purchase, consumers can save money by avoiding unnecessary features."

Example 2: Original: "Secondly, through considering before purchase something can enhance efficiency." Improved: "Secondly, taking time to research and compare products before purchasing can lead to greater efficiency in using the chosen device."

The reason is that, people already have their own plans and extremely sure about everything. For instance, different stores have different commercials. It can stop going to a wrong store. Display title: 6 Revised Essay

In response to Doctor Diaz's question, I concur with Claire's assertion that the most significant mistake people make when purchasing tech products is not aligning the product's capabilities with their actual needs. This oversight can lead to unnecessary expenses and inefficiencies. By carefully evaluating their requirements before making a purchase, individuals can save money and invest in devices that genuinely cater to their needs. For example, it is common knowledge that aesthetically appealing tech devices, such as those with vibrant colors or sleek designs, often come at a higher price. Despite being aware of this fact, many consumers still gravitate towards these visually attractive yet potentially superfluous options.

Furthermore, taking the time to consider one's needs before purchasing a tech product can enhance overall efficiency. When individuals have a clear understanding of their requirements and preferences, they are more likely to make informed decisions about which stores or promotions best suit their needs. This approach minimizes the risk of wasting time and resources on unsuitable products or deals. In conclusion, it is crucial for consumers to prioritize matching tech products with their specific needs in order to optimize both financial and functional aspects of their purchases. (201 words)

Akademik Tartışma Nasıl Puanlanır

TOEFL Akademik Tartışma görevi, resmi ETS puanlama rubriğine göre değerlendirilir. Yapay zeka değerlendirmesi her yanıtı birden fazla boyutta analiz eder.
