Task Overview

Reading Passage

Behavior Modification  Individuals often modify their behavior based on what they have learned about the possible consequences of their actions. When an individual learns through experience that a certain behavior results in pleasant consequences, that behavior is likely to be repeated. An unpleasant consequence, on the other hand, discourages further repetition of the behavior. While behavior modification can be observed in experiments, it also occurs frequently in everyday settings, when individuals change their behavior based on what they have learned about the consequences of that behavior.

4.话题发展 The response demonstrates a good understanding of the topic and the example provided in the lecture. However, it could be improved by providing a clearer explanation of behavior modification and its principles, as well as by making stronger connections between the example and the concept. To enhance topic development, try to focus on elaborating the main points and providing more detailed explanations, while maintaining a coherent and well-organized structure.

5.语言使用

Original Answer: The professor in the lecture uses examples to explain the idea of behavior modification. For example, when kids start to go to school, they are not used to the rules, so they interrupt the teacher and walk around the classroom, which leads them to be punished. They will be asked to sit at their desk and can't go out to play. This behavior gets them in trouble, they will not repeat again. In contrast, if they raise their hands quietly and pay attention on class, they will be rewarded and they will get a little heavy face on homework. It is a good reaction, they are willing to repeat.

Corrected Answer: The professor in the lecture provides examples to illustrate the concept of behavior modification. For instance, when children begin attending school, they are unfamiliar with the rules, so they might interrupt the teacher and wander around the classroom, resulting in punishment. They are required to remain seated at their desks and are not allowed to go outside for playtime. This negative consequence discourages them from repeating such behavior. Conversely, if they raise their hands politely and concentrate during class, they receive praise and a small happy face sticker on their homework. This positive reinforcement encourages them to continue exhibiting appropriate behavior. (在这个修改后的版本中,我们使用了更高级的词汇,更自然的语言风格,以及更清晰的句子结构。例如,我们用“illustrate”替换了“explain”,用“unfamiliar”替换了“not used”,并用“wander”替换了“walk”。此外,我们还纠正了一些语法错误,如使用正确的时态和介词。)

Revised Answer (140 words):

The professor in the lecture provides examples to illustrate the concept of behavior modification, a process through which individuals change their actions based on the consequences they experience. For instance, when children begin attending school, they are unfamiliar with the rules and might interrupt the teacher or wander around the classroom. These actions result in punishment, such as being required to remain seated at their desks and not being allowed to go outside for playtime. This negative consequence discourages them from repeating such behavior. Conversely, if they raise their hands politely, concentrate during class, and follow the rules, they receive praise and a small happy face sticker on their homework as a reward. This positive reinforcement encourages them to continue exhibiting appropriate behavior, thus demonstrating how behavior modification works in real-life situations.

23. 3.Delivery

The speaker's delivery is generally clear and fluid, but there are some occasional pauses that could be improved. Additionally, the speaker should work on their pronunciation to avoid any confusion or misunderstandings. To improve, the speaker should practice speaking at a consistent pace and focus on accurate pronunciation.

4.Topic Development The response provides a coherent explanation of behavior modification and how it works using the example from the lecture. However, the speaker could further develop their response by providing more specific details from the lecture and making clearer connections between ideas. To improve topic development, the speaker should work on organizing their thoughts more effectively and incorporating additional support or examples from the lecture.

5.Language Use

Original: Behavior modification refers to that people will change their behaviors in evaluating the results of their behavior. For example, in a school, a new entering child will be punished if they disobey and they will get punishment from their teacher, and they know their behavior is not good, they will change their behavior to behave fine. And if they behave good, their teacher will give reward to them, they will proud of them, and so the child will behave good. So the behavior modification can change one's behavior.

Corrected: Behavior modification refers to that how people will modify their behaviors in evaluating based on the results of their behavior. For example, in a school, a new entering child newly enrolled student will be punished if they disobey(consider using "disobey" instead of "disobey" for better clarity), and they will get punishment reprimanded from their teacher. and Once they know their behavior is not good, they will change their behavior to behave fine appropriately. And if they behave good well, their teacher will give reward rewards to them, they will proud of them feel proud, and so the child will continue to behave good well. So the behavior modification can change one's behavior.

Revised (140 words): Behavior modification refers to how people modify their behaviors based on the consequences of their actions. For example, in a school setting, a newly enrolled student may initially exhibit inappropriate behavior, such as interrupting the teacher or walking around the classroom when they should be seated. When the teacher reprimands the student for their misconduct, the student learns that such behavior is unacceptable and adjusts their actions accordingly. Conversely, when the student behaves well and follows classroom rules, they receive positive reinforcement from the teacher in the form of praise or rewards. This encourages the student to continue exhibiting good behavior. Through this process of experiencing both negative and positive consequences for their actions, individuals learn to modify their behavior to achieve more desirable outcomes.

根据审阅建议修改后的回答(140词):

Behavior modification is a process in which individuals change their behavior based on the consequences they have experienced. In the example from the lecture, a young child starts school and initially misbehaves by interrupting the teacher and walking around the classroom. The teacher gets angry and punishes the child, resulting in an unpleasant consequence for the misbehavior. The child learns that such actions lead to negative outcomes and eventually stops misbehaving.

On the other hand, when the child raises their hand to speak and sits quietly during class, they receive positive reinforcement from the teacher, such as praise and happy face stickers on their homework. This pleasant consequence encourages the child to continue behaving appropriately in class. In this way, behavior modification works by teaching individuals to associate certain actions with either positive or negative consequences, leading them to adjust their behavior accordingly.

根据修改建议,回答的修订版本(140字):

Behavior modification is when individuals adjust their behavior according to the positive or negative consequences they have experienced. The professor demonstrates this concept using children's behavior in a classroom setting as an example. Young children may not be accustomed to appropriate classroom etiquette at first. For instance, they might wander around the classroom and fail to pay attention to their teachers. As a result, they will get punished for their misbehavior, such as having to stay in the classroom while other students can play outside. Through the punishment, the kids will learn that these behaviors get them in trouble. In contrast, if the kids listen to their teacher carefully and stay quiet, they will get rewarded by the teacher, such as receiving stickers with a happy face. Since their good behavior gets good results, the kids will learn to always stay quiet.

To enhance topic development, the speaker should work on expanding their ideas and incorporating more relevant information from both the reading and listening passages.

5.Language Use

Behavior modification is when an individual learns about the possible consequences of their actions. Behavior modification occurs as individuals learn about the potential consequences of their actions. (Improved sentence structure and vocabulary) When the individual thinks that an action would be good, they are more likely to repeat it, while actions that lead to bad consequences would cause the individual to avoid it. When individuals perceive a positive outcome from an action, they tend to repeat it, whereas negative outcomes discourage repetition. (Improved sentence structure and vocabulary)

For example, if a child in kindergarten misbehaves, the teacher might get angry when they act this way, and they might get punished. Because of this, they would tend to avoid whatever they were doing before. They would avoid misbehaving. While if the student acts nicely and does well on their homework and pays attention in class, they will get rewarded by the teacher and will get positive reactions. Thus, they would tend to repeat their actions.

Revised Answer (140 words):

Behavior modification occurs as individuals learn about the potential consequences of their actions. When individuals perceive a positive outcome from an action, they tend to repeat it, whereas negative outcomes discourage repetition. For instance, consider a kindergarten child who misbehaves in class. The teacher may become upset and punish the child for their behavior. Consequently, the child learns to avoid such actions in order to prevent further punishment. On the other hand, if the student behaves appropriately, completes their homework diligently, and pays attention in class, they receive praise and rewards from the teacher. This positive reinforcement encourages them to continue exhibiting good behavior in class. Through this process of behavior modification, children learn to adapt their actions based on the consequences they experience, ultimately shaping their behavior to align with the expectations of their environment.
