This week, we’ll be looking into family dynamics. One common concern in our field is that due to busy schedules, many families have limited time to spend together, so connections within families may grow weaker over time. Let’s begin by discussing the following viewpoint: the best way for a family to strengthen family bonds is to work on something together, for example, cooking, gardening, or working on a craft project. Do you agree or disagree with this viewpoint? Why?
Andrew
I agree. Families feel more connected while working together rather than while doing passive activities, such as watching TV. While working together, family members have an opportunity to engage in an in-depth discussion and share their thoughts and feelings. Working toward a common goal, such as planting a garden, helps families create happy memories and feel a sense of accomplishment.
Claire
I don’t think working together is the best way for every family to strengthen family bonds because every family is different and even within one family, it is difficult to find tasks that are interesting to everyone. While working together, family members may disagree about how to best accomplish tasks, which may result in an argument.

While I can understand Claire's argument that working together with family may cause the confliction between family members as it is not a general way to connect them, I find myself more aligned with Andrew's perspective that it will strength family bonds as the result. As mentioned by Andrew, it provides the opportunities for family members to discuss and share their feelings. For example, when I was young, I always wash clothes with my mother, and I told her what happened in the school every time. It indeed hastens our relationship, and the days are one of the most happy time of my life. On the contrary, although there are some disagreements about the tasks, people will soon comprehend the thoughts of their family members, and build deeper bonds because of the disagreements. In light of these considerations, I believe that working together with families offers benefit for the connections within them.

Section Title: Strengthening Family Bonds through Collaborative Activities
While I acknowledge Claire's point that collaborative activities may not be universally effective in strengthening family bonds due to potential conflicts and differing interests, I find myself more inclined towards Andrew's viewpoint that working together can indeed foster stronger connections. As Andrew highlighted, engaging in shared tasks allows family members to communicate and express their thoughts and emotions. For instance, during my childhood, I would often assist my mother with laundry chores while sharing stories from school. These moments not only deepened our bond but also remain some of the most cherished memories of my life. Furthermore, although disagreements may arise during such activities, they can ultimately lead to a better understanding of each other's perspectives and contribute to the development of deeper connections. Taking these factors into account, I maintain that collaborative endeavors within families can yield significant benefits for their relationships. (151 words)
