Task Overview
Reading Passage
Although it’s a new technology, solar energy provides benefits to the entire world. First, solar energy eliminates our reliance on non-renewable fossil fuels. Additionally, solar energy is non-pollutant, which makes it better for everyone. Finally, there is almost no maintenance as solar panels have a long life span without regular maintenance. So, the benefits seem to be overwhelmingly positive and supportive of further production. The first benefit is the ability for solar energy to reduce reliance on fossil fuels. Many sources of energy are renewable only over millions of years. Unfortunately, humans consume those faster than they are produced. Solar energy could be a replacement for non-renewable sources as a perpetual source of energy. Thus solar energy can become a new energy with no legitimate fear of overproduction. Another benefit is the non-pollutant aspect of solar energy. Burning fossil fuels is known to produce deadly pollution, while solar energy produces zero harmful byproducts. While current energy sources produce disgusting smells, sounds, and visuals, solar energy produces nothing offensive. Therefore, when considering the health of the planet, the lifelong health benefits of solar energy are unparalleled. Finally, solar energy has low costs. The cost of solar panels is a one-time purchase. Also, after installation, the lifespan of a solar panel is thirty years. After the initial cost, the solar panel will cost almost nothing. This is a benefit to personal finances, but also peace of mind since there is no worry about rising prices or lack of resources. In conclusion, these benefits provide support for more people to consider switching to solar power. Both the renewable aspect as well as the non-polluting aspect means that there will be added benefits for individuals, cities, and the planet. The low lifelong cost of installation and maintenance provides a lifetime of benefits. Thus, solar energy looks to be one of the world’s great ideas.

The reading and the lecture both address the topic of solar energy. The author claims that solar energy is an overwhelmingly positive energy source for people. The lecturer agrees with this statement due to the following reasons. Firstly, the passage suggests that using solar energy can make people rely less on fossil fuels. It is a renewable and perpetual that people can exploit without limit. The woman agrees that solar energy is a clean and renewable energy with a long lifespan. Moreover, the passage provides a theory that solar energy is non-pollutant, producing zero harmful byproducts. Also, the woman agrees that there are multifaceted uses of solar energy. For example, it can proactively control anticipated energy source and don't waste money. Additionally, the article goes on to say that solar energy has low costs. People only need to spend one purchase for the panel. So to speak, solar energy has many financial benefits. For example, if buyers construct solar panels to produce energy, for the redundant energy, they can sell to other electricity companies and get additional money. Overall, I believe that using solar energy is a wonderful way, since it brings about many benefits.

3.Task completeness The essay does a decent job of addressing the specific requirements of the task, but there is room for improvement. To better fulfill the task, you should focus on summarizing the points in the lecture and explaining how they address the specific ideas about solar energy described in the reading passage. Make sure to provide more details from the lecture and clearly connect them to the points made in the reading passage.
Example 1: Original sentence: "The woman agrees that solar energy is a clean and renewable energy with a long lifespan." Improved sentence: "The lecturer supports this idea by stating that solar panels have a long lifespan, which offsets their production cost in terms of energy consumption."
Example 2: Original sentence: "Also, the woman agrees that there are multifaceted uses of solar energy." Improved sentence: "The lecturer further elaborates on this point by mentioning that solar energy can be used for various purposes such as water heating and privatization of energy, which benefits consumers both financially and environmentally."
4.Essay structure and organization The essay has a basic structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. However, it could be better organized by focusing each paragraph on one main point from the lecture and its corresponding point in the reading passage. Clear transitions between ideas and paragraphs should also be improved.
Example 1: Original paragraph structure:
-
Introduction
-
Agreement on renewable aspect
-
Agreement on non-pollutant aspect
-
Agreement on low costs
Improved paragraph structure:
-
Introduction
-
Renewable aspect (reading) vs. offset production (lecture)
-
Non-pollutant aspect (reading) vs. multifaceted uses (lecture)
-
Low costs (reading) vs. financial benefits (lecture)
-
Conclusion
Example 2: Original sentence: "Moreover, the passage provides a theory that solar energy is non-pollutant, producing zero harmful byproducts." Improved sentence: "In contrast to the reading passage's focus on the non-pollutant aspect of solar energy, the lecturer emphasizes its multifaceted uses, such as water heating and privatization of energy."
