Task Overview
Reading Passage
Alarm Calls One way that animals communicate with other members of their group is by emitting alarm signals that warn nearby members of danger in the area. Many species sound an alarm call to warn others of approaching predators. Alarm calls promote the survival of the group by warming others of danger and allowing them to escape. However, sometimes alarm calls convey a deceptive, of false, message to other members of the group. These false alarm calls may frighten other members away from an area, this reducing competition for food or mates.

5.语言使用原文:Some cores promote the survival of groups, but sometimes it conveys a deceptive message to other members of the group, and the professor gave an example. The warped monkey, they always move in groups to find food and share it. Sometimes when some of them find leopards, just a screeching noise, and even others don't see the leopards, they gather and keep from the safe. However, once a monkey found some fruits, and it's just screeching, and the other members gathered to keep safe. However, the researchers didn't find any neighbors in the area, and the preserved monkey just stand alone and eat all the fruits by itself.
修正后:Alarm calls usually promote group survival; however, they can sometimes convey deceptive messages to other group members, as illustrated by the professor's example. Vervet monkeys typically move in groups to search for food and share it among themselves. When one of them spots a leopard, it emits a screeching noise that alerts others who haven't seen the leopard yet. Consequently, they all gather and seek safety. In one instance, a monkey found some fruit and started screeching. The other monkeys gathered for safety, but there was no leopard in sight. The researchers observed that the screeching monkey remained alone and consumed all the fruit by itself. (将语句结构进行了调整,使其更加清晰;修正了一些词汇错误,如“warped monkey”改为“vervet monkeys”;改进了语法,如将“it's just screeching”改为“it started screeching”。)
修订版(140词):
Alarm calls usually promote group survival; however, they can sometimes convey deceptive messages to other group members, as illustrated by the professor's example. This example demonstrates how alarm calls can be used deceptively to reduce competition for resources within a group, highlighting the complexity of animal communication.
