Task Overview
Reading Passage
Magnetoreception Many animals use landmarks or recognizable features in their environment to help them navigate and find their way from one place to another. However, some animals live in unusual environments where they are unable to rely on landmarks to guide them. Animals in these environments may need to navigate in other ways, such as by using magnetoreception. Animals that use magnetoreception have the ability to sense the earth's magnetic field. They can use this ability like an internal compass to know which direction they are going, so they can navigate over long distances without getting lost. In order to do this, these animals have special physical features that make magnetoreception possible.

According to the professor, blind morat is a kind of animal that spend their whole life underground in tunnels and chambers. According to the professor, the blind mole rat is a type of animal that spends its entire life underground in tunnels and chambers.(将"blind morat"改为"blind mole rat",将"spend"改为"spends",将"whole life"改为"entire life",将"a kind of animal"改为"a type of animal"。这些更正使句子更符合语法规则和词汇用法。)
Their activity area is extensive, however, there is no light. Their habitat is vast; however, there is no light.(将"Their activity area"改为"Their habitat",将"is extensive,"改为"is vast;"。这些修正使句子更自然且表达更准确。)
Therefore, it is impossible for them to rely on sun or stars or other landmarks to guide themselves. Therefore, they cannot rely on the sun, stars, or other landmarks for navigation.(将原句子进行了简化和重组,使其更自然和流畅。)
Also, as they cannot see clearly, they have to rely on a crystal structure near their nose, which serves as a pole to guide themselves. Additionally, since they are unable to see clearly, they must rely on a crystal-like structure near their nose that functions as a compass for guidance.(将"Also"改为"Additionally",将"crystal structure"改为"crystal-like structure",将"serves as a pole"改为"functions as a compass"。这些修正使句子更自然且表达更准确。)
Revised Answer (140 words):
According to the professor, the blind mole rat is a type of animal that spends its entire life underground in tunnels and chambers. Their habitat is vast; however, there is no light. Therefore, they cannot rely on the sun, stars, or other landmarks for navigation. Additionally, since they are unable to see clearly, they must rely on a crystal-like structure near their nose that functions as a compass for guidance. With this structure, they can know which way to go and also know the direction from which they travel. This example from the professor's lecture effectively illustrates the concept of magnetoreception, as it demonstrates how the blind mole rat uses its unique physical features to navigate through its dark and complex environment without relying on traditional landmarks.
