Task Overview
Reading Passage
When it comes time to reproduce, many animal species breed and bear young in any nearby habitat that has suitable conditions. In some species, however, individuals keep returning to the same breeding site repeatedly whenever they reproduce, a phenomenon known as breeding-site fidelity. Animals that exhibit breeding-site fidelity may need to expend effort to make a particular breeding site suitable for their young, so it may be more efficient to return to a previously prepared site than to prepare a new site. However, if an attempt to breed at a particular site does not produce offspring that survive, the parent animals learn not to reuse that site in the future.

Original Answer: In the reading, it discusses the concept of breeding site fidelity, which means when some animals reproduce, they may return to the same breeding site repeatedly, and if they find their sites are attacked, they will abandon the site forever. Then in the biology class, the professor demonstrates this point by using metaphyl as an example. For example, both female and male will work together about several months to build a large nest enough to accommodate 30 eggs, and they will leave the nest far away, then when next reproduction time appears, they will find their way back to the nest where they laid their eggs. However, they will find predators eat all their eggs, and they won't use the nest again.
Corrected Answer: In the reading passage, it introduces the concept of breeding-site fidelity. This phenomenon occurs when certain animals reproduce by returning to the same breeding site repeatedly. If these animals discover that their sites have been attacked, they will permanently abandon them. In the biology lecture, the professor illustrates this concept using malleefowl as an example. Both male and female malleefowl collaborate for several months to construct a large mound capable of accommodating up to 30 eggs. After leaving the mound at a considerable distance, they return to it during the next breeding season. However, if predators have consumed all their eggs, they will not use that mound again. Revised Answer (140 words):
The reading passage introduces the concept of breeding-site fidelity, a phenomenon where certain animals reproduce by returning to the same breeding site repeatedly. If these animals discover that their sites have been attacked, they will permanently abandon them. In the biology lecture, the professor illustrates this concept using malleefowl as an example. Both male and female malleefowl collaborate for several months to construct a large mound capable of accommodating up to 30 eggs. They then leave the mound at a considerable distance, only to return during the next breeding season. However, if they find that predators have consumed all their eggs, they will not use that mound again. This example clearly demonstrates the concept of breeding-site fidelity, as the malleefowl exhibit a strong preference for their original breeding site unless it proves to be unsafe for their offspring.
