Task Overview
Reading Passage
Closed-Loop Design Many modern products, when they're worn out, are thrown away and end up in landfills. Recently, however, manufacturing companies have begun to implement eco-friendly practices to reduce waste. These manufacturers use sustainable materials for their products, so when the products reach the end of their useful life, they can be collected by the manufacturer and converted back into new products. This manufacturing approach is known as closed-loop design . With closed-loop design, used products circle or loop back to the manufacturer to be reused, instead of taking a linear path to end up in a landfill. This way, the raw materials in the product are recycled, which benefits both the company and the environment.

Corrected: In the reading, it discusses the concept of closed-loop design is discussed(这里使用被动语态更自然), which means some products are made of sustainable materials, and when they reach their end of life, they will be collected by the company and converted back to new products. In the lecture, the professor takes carpet as an example. In the conventional times, in conventional practices(用法更准确), carpet was ripped out and thrown away(逗号), and they end up in the garbage. However, nowadays, some innovative companies reuse the carpet. They took take(保持一致的时态) the top layer(逗号) clean and dye the worn-out carpet(逗号) and put them into producing new carpet. In this way, they can reuse the raw materials and can save the company a lot of money and preserve the environment at the same time. Compared to burning it down, it can be so much more(更自然的表达) eco-friendly.
Revised (140 words): The concept of closed-loop design is discussed in the reading, which involves creating products from sustainable materials that can be collected and converted back into new products when they reach their end of life. In the lecture, the professor uses carpet as an example to illustrate this concept. In conventional practices, carpets were ripped out, thrown away, and ended up in landfills. However, some innovative companies now reuse carpets by taking the top layer, cleaning and dyeing the worn-out fibers, and incorporating them into new carpet production. This approach allows for the reuse of raw materials, saving companies money while preserving the environment simultaneously. Compared to traditional disposal methods like burning or dumping in landfills, closed-loop design is much more eco-friendly.
