Behavior Modification Individuals often modify their behavior based on what they have learned about the possible consequences of their actions. When an individual learns through experience that a certain behavior results in pleasant consequences, that behavior is likely to be repeated. An unpleasant consequence, on the other hand, discourages further repetition of the behavior. While behavior modification can be observed in experiments, it also occurs frequently in everyday settings, when individuals change their behavior based on what they have learned about the consequences of that behavior.

The response demonstrates a good understanding of the topic and the example provided in the lecture. However, it could be improved by providing a clearer explanation of behavior modification and its principles, as well as by making stronger connections between the example and the concept. To enhance topic development, try to focus on elaborating the main points and providing more detailed explanations, while maintaining a coherent and well-organized structure.
5.语言使用Original Answer: The professor in the lecture uses examples to explain the idea of behavior modification. For example, when kids start to go to school, they are not used to the rules, so they interrupt the teacher and walk around the classroom, which leads them to be punished. They will be asked to sit at their desk and can't go out to play. This behavior gets them in trouble, they will not repeat again. In contrast, if they raise their hands quietly and pay attention on class, they will be rewarded and they will get a little heavy face on homework. It is a good reaction, they are willing to repeat.
Corrected Answer: The professor in the lecture provides examples to illustrate the concept of behavior modification. For instance, when children begin attending school, they are unfamiliar with the rules, so they might interrupt the teacher and wander around the classroom, resulting in punishment. They are required to remain seated at their desks and are not allowed to go outside for playtime. This negative consequence discourages them from repeating such behavior. Conversely, if they raise their hands politely and concentrate during class, they receive praise and a small happy face sticker on their homework. This positive reinforcement encourages them to continue exhibiting appropriate behavior. (在这个修改后的版本中,我们使用了更高级的词汇,更自然的语言风格,以及更清晰的句子结构。例如,我们用“illustrate”替换了“explain”,用“unfamiliar”替换了“not used”,并用“wander”替换了“walk”。此外,我们还纠正了一些语法错误,如使用正确的时态和介词。)
Revised Answer (140 words):
The professor in the lecture provides examples to illustrate the concept of behavior modification, a process through which individuals change their actions based on the consequences they experience. For instance, when children begin attending school, they are unfamiliar with the rules and might interrupt the teacher or wander around the classroom. These actions result in punishment, such as being required to remain seated at their desks and not being allowed to go outside for playtime. This negative consequence discourages them from repeating such behavior. Conversely, if they raise their hands politely, concentrate during class, and follow the rules, they receive praise and a small happy face sticker on their homework as a reward. This positive reinforcement encourages them to continue exhibiting appropriate behavior, thus demonstrating how behavior modification works in real-life situations.
