Aperçu de la Tâche

Professor

As environmental protection develops, more people have come to realize that everybody should play a part in preserving the planet we live on. These years, many people want to protect and improve the natural environment. In terms of what individuals in their daily lives could do if they want to protect the environment, some put forward walking or bicycling instead of driving a car to work or school, while others recommend buying locally grown organic foods grown without pesticides, and which one do you think would work better?

lila

I think walking or cycling instead of driving works better in reducing carbon emissions. Everybody needs to commute, and a lot of people drive every day. If they can switch to walking or riding bicycles, the outcome of such a collective effort would be considerable.

Paul

Buying locally grown organic foods is more effective, I think. Growing crops organically means giving up pesticides to get rid of pests, which significantly reduces pollutants that pose great threats to soil and water. Therefore, the food chain could be less contaminated.

I agree with Lila's assertion that promote walking or bicycling to replace driving is more effective. In today's world, carbon emissions is a pivotal problem to the preservation of the environment, and I firmly believe that releasing fewer carbon dioxide will significantly reduce the probability of extreme weather events. Even if only half of the population are doing so, it still can make considerable changes in atmosphere. Although I can see Paul's point in his opinion, I would like to further argue that the proper usage of pesticides is able to produce vegetables with high quality. In addition, normally the price of organic food is higher, while walking and bicycling do not cost a penny.

Example 1: Instead of just mentioning that walking and bicycling do not cost a penny, you could elaborate on how this makes it more accessible for a larger population, leading to a greater overall impact on the environment.

Example 2: You could provide specific examples or statistics on the reduction of carbon emissions when people choose to walk or bike instead of driving.

Example 1: In the introduction, you could write, "In my opinion, walking or bicycling to work or school is a more effective way to protect the environment than buying locally grown organic foods because it directly reduces carbon emissions and is accessible to a larger population."

Example 2: When discussing the advantages of walking or bicycling, you could organize your ideas into separate paragraphs, focusing on one advantage per paragraph and providing supporting evidence for each point.

In response to the professor's question, I concur with Lila that encouraging walking or bicycling as alternatives to driving is a more effective approach in mitigating environmental degradation. Carbon emissions pose a significant threat to our planet, and reducing them by adopting eco-friendly transportation methods can substantially decrease the likelihood of extreme weather events. Even if only a portion of the population embraces this change, the collective impact on atmospheric conditions would be noteworthy. While I understand Paul's perspective on organic food production, it is worth mentioning that responsible pesticide use can yield high-quality produce. Furthermore, organic food typically comes at a higher price point, whereas walking and bicycling are cost-free solutions for individuals seeking to contribute to environmental preservation. In response to the professor's question, I support Claire's argument that prioritizing economic development before environmental protection is essential. While Paul rightly pointed out the importance of natural resources, it is crucial to recognize that economic stability plays a significant role in people's lives. If individuals lack financial security and basic living standards, they are less likely to focus on environmental concerns. Furthermore, only through robust economic growth can we generate sufficient funds to invest in environmental protection initiatives. This includes conducting research on sustainable practices and raising public awareness about the importance of preserving our environment. Therefore, it is not advisable to hinder economic progress for the sake of environmental protection. (116 words)

Title: 6 文章修订

Balancing economic development and environmental protection is undeniably a complex issue. While prioritizing the environment offers long-term benefits for human society, I contend that focusing on economic growth should take precedence. The primary reason for this stance is that a thriving economy can significantly enhance technological advancements, which in turn, contribute to more efficient environmental protection measures. For instance, the widespread use of gasoline-powered vehicles has led to increased air pollution over the years. Moreover, environmentally detrimental practices such as burning coal and oil for energy persist. These issues will remain unresolved unless governments invest in economic development and allocate resources towards innovative technologies. Therefore, I firmly believe that prioritizing economic growth is essential for addressing environmental concerns effectively. (122 words)

As I can see Paul's perspective that purchasing organic foods grown without pesticides enables the less use of pesticides, which leads to the pollutants reduction and food chain protection, I agree with Lila's idea that reducing the driving of cars can better protect the environment. By switching to walk or riding bicycles, the contaminating gas and poisonous chemicals emitted by cars can be reduced effectively, which significantly impact the air conditions. Apart from what Lila has mentioned, I add that with many people choosing to give up driving cars, the improved air condition can encourage more people to walk or ride bikes to get to their destinations since they are willing to enjoy the comfortable environment.

Besides, considering the health factor, due to the quick pace of work and life, many people lack time and energy to exercise, walking or cycling will provide opportunities to do some physical exercise which is good for people's health.

In my opinion, opting for walking or cycling over driving is a more effective approach to environmental protection. As Lila mentioned, the cumulative impact of this collective effort can be substantial. While some individuals may reside far from their work or study locations, a significant number live within a reasonable distance that allows them to walk or cycle. This not only reduces carbon emissions but also promotes a healthier lifestyle. Given the fast-paced nature of modern life, many people struggle to find time and energy for exercise; incorporating walking or cycling into daily routines offers an opportunity to engage in physical activity, benefiting both personal health and the environment. Section Title: Addressing Housing Shortages

In my opinion, the most effective approach for the government to tackle the housing shortage issue is by constructing multi-purpose residential buildings that can accommodate a larger number of people. This strategy allows for optimal utilization of available space, enabling the construction of more apartments and houses within these structures. For example, building hotels can provide temporary accommodation for some individuals. Moreover, the government could develop residential communities comprising multiple buildings with various amenities and recreational facilities for residents' convenience and enjoyment. Implementing such policies can significantly alleviate housing shortages. Drawing from personal experience, my city adopted similar measures during my senior high school years to address this issue. The construction of hotels and residential areas provided ample living spaces for the growing population, effectively resolving the problem. (133 words)

With developing of the technology, some public traffic in urban city is convenience and efficient for people who need commute everyday. In this case, while you take the public traffic such as subway, bus or taxi, it will decrease the release of carbon dioxide and alleviate the traffic jam caused by private cars. Without our efforts to protect our environment, we would have been more contaminated by pollutions, which will deteriorate our surroundings.

In response to the professor's question, I concur with Lila that opting for walking or cycling instead of driving is a more effective approach to environmental protection. Additionally, utilizing public transportation can further contribute to reducing pollution. As technological advancements have made public transit increasingly convenient and efficient in urban areas, daily commuters can significantly decrease carbon dioxide emissions and alleviate traffic congestion by choosing subways, buses, or taxis over private cars. This collective effort plays a crucial role in lessening the environmental strain caused by vehicular emissions. On the other hand, while consuming locally grown organic foods is beneficial, it may not be as impactful if we fail to address the issue of carbon emissions directly. It is our responsibility to actively participate in safeguarding our environment from pollution and ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come. (144 words)

In my perspective, prioritizing economic development over environmental protection is essential. I concur with Claire's viewpoint that without a thriving economy, people cannot sustain a livable environment. Consequently, individuals may resort to sacrificing the environment to fulfill their basic survival needs, exacerbating environmental degradation. Therefore, fostering economic growth is crucial for improving both the environment and human living conditions. While Paul argues that we should slow down economic growth to protect the environment as it provides us with everything, including the foundation for our economy, this approach has its drawbacks. Implementing effective environmental conservation measures often requires substantial financial and technological resources; thus, hindering economic growth may inadvertently make protecting the environment more challenging. While I appreciate the points mentioned by both Kelly and Claire, my perspective is that it's better to use the space to build green spaces. What must be prioritized is that greenlands other than shopping centers are more conducive for people in the urban area by improving the air quality and offering some places for people to get closer to the nature. To begin with, more parks lead to the better air quality. In detail, trees and plants can absorb polluted gas and produce oxygen by the process of photosynthesis; on the other hand, shopping malls or factories will not reduce the pollution but make things deteriorate. Moreover, green spaces give people the access the nature. To be specific, people could get relaxed by walking in parks, playing with their dogs; in contrast, manufacturing plants do not have such effects.

While I appreciate the points mentioned by both Kelly and Claire, my perspective is that it's better to use the space to build green spaces. Moreover, green spaces give people the access theto the(This rule identifies whether the preposition 'to' is missing in a sentence.) nature. 1. Article Revision

In light of the arguments presented by Kelly and Claire, I maintain that utilizing available urban space for green spaces is the superior choice. Prioritizing greenlands over shopping centers or manufacturing plants fosters a healthier environment for city dwellers by enhancing air quality and providing opportunities to connect with nature. Firstly, an increased number of parks directly contributes to improved air quality. Trees and plants absorb pollutants and generate oxygen through photosynthesis, whereas shopping malls and factories exacerbate pollution levels. Secondly, green spaces offer urban residents valuable access to nature. Engaging in leisurely activities such as strolling through parks or playing with pets allows individuals to unwind and recharge, a benefit not afforded by industrial facilities. (119 words)
