Impression Management According to some sociologists, as we go about our lives, we try to control or manage the impression that we make on others in social situations. When we do this, we are practicing what sociologists call impression management. Even in everyday, ordinary interactions, we make special preparations - sometimes unconsciously - to convey certain Information about ourselves that influences how others perceive us. These preparations often involve our personal appearance - how we look during the social interaction - as well as the social setting, which is the place where the social interaction occurs.

Corrected: In the context of the reading passage, it mainly talks about impression management, which means that people may control the impression they make on others in social situations. In the sociology lecture, the professor provides two examples to explain this concept. The first example is when students give a class presentation; some students might wear a T-shirt while others may dress up, like wearing a nice sweater. The other example is when the professor takes a car to pick up the university president to drive across town; he wants to make a good impression so that he can show he is responsible and respectful. So, he also changed his radio to a classical music station, as it can demonstrate his sophistication.
Revised (140 words): In the context of the reading passage, it discusses impression management, which is about controlling the impression people make on others in social situations. The sociology lecture provides two examples to illustrate this concept. Firstly, when students give a class presentation, their attire can indicate their seriousness and responsibility, affecting their performance. Secondly, the professor's actions when picking up the university president, such as cleaning his car and changing the radio station to classical music, are intended to create a responsible and sophisticated image. These examples demonstrate how individuals consciously or unconsciously manage their impressions in various social situations to influence others' perceptions of them. By understanding impression management, we can better navigate social interactions and present ourselves in a favorable light.
