Task Overview

Reading Passage

ReadingTime: 45 seconds End-of-History llusion People tpically recognize that they were different in the past and that they had some different opinions and preferences than they currently do. However, people tend to think their opinions will not change much in the future, despite knowing that they did change in the past. This tendency is called the end-of-history ilusion, because people believe that their personal history ends in the present, in the sense that their opinions are fully developed now and will no longer change. The end-of-history ilusion may occur partly because it is so difficult for people to imagine future opinions that have not yet formed, so they assume no change will happen at all.
