Task Overview
Reading Passage
Environmental Disturbances The natural growing conditions of plants in a particular area are often interrupted or disturbed by normal occurrences or processes. These occurrences, which may be the result of either natural causes or human activities, are known as environmental disturbances. The disturbances bring sudden change to the growth and development of plant life in a particular area of the environment. An environment disturbance may damage but not destroy one plant species in the area while leaving room for other species to flourish. Over time, such environmental disturbances can actually improve and increase plant diversity in the area by reducing or eliminating overpopulated species and allowing other species to grow.

5.语言使用Original: Environmental disturbance means the natural growing condition of plants are often interrupted or disturbed by normal occurrence. And the professor used one example to illustrate this concept. For example, there is one species called bull's grass. It grows so dense, in the end, it will block the sunlight of other plants. So therefore, some plants can get sunlight, in the end, they will die. However, the change suddenly happened. Like, the farmer introduced an animal called cow, and it will eat the grass. So, in the end, they will have more space and sunlight for the other plants. Therefore, some white flowers can grow where blue grass used to be. In the end, more and more white flowers happen in that field. So, that's the example to illustrate the concept of environmental disturbance.

Revised (140 words): An environmental disturbance occurs when the natural growing conditions of plants are interrupted or disturbed by normal occurrences. The professor illustrated this concept with an example of a species called bluegrass. This grass grows densely, blocking sunlight for other plants and causing them to die due to lack of sunlight. However, a sudden change occurred when a farmer introduced cows into the field, which began eating the bluegrass. This created more space and allowed sunlight to reach other plants. As a result, various types of wildflowers started growing where bluegrass once dominated. Over time, an increasing number of wildflowers appeared in the field, demonstrating how environmental disturbances can lead to increased plant diversity.
