Frequently Asked Questions

Which universities are covered?
The checker covers 100+ US and UK universities drawn from the QS top 100 ranking, for both undergraduate and master's programs. Schools are included as their official 2026 TOEFL band requirements are confirmed. If your school is not listed, use the contact form to request it.
What does "Legacy Scale Listed" mean?
The TOEFL 2026 format launched January 21, 2026 and uses a 1–6 band scale. Some universities have not yet updated their admissions pages to the new scale. When a school still lists a legacy 0–120 score, the checker shows "Legacy Scale Listed" and provides an approximate band conversion. Always verify the exact requirement on the official admissions page.
Does the checker account for section minimums?
Yes, where official section minimums have been published. Many universities set not only an overall TOEFL minimum but also per-section minimums for Reading, Listening, Speaking, and Writing. The checker displays these where available. Meeting the overall minimum but missing a section minimum can result in a conditional offer.
What is the difference between this tool and the School Finder?
This tool works the other way around: you choose a specific school and check whether your score meets its requirement. The School Finder by Score works in the opposite direction — you enter your score and it shows you all schools where you qualify, labeled as Safer, Match, or Reach.
