Task Overview
Reading Passage
Vernal Pools In some wetland areas, small pools of water form temporarily during the spring due toincreased rainfall or melting snow, and then they dry up by midsummer. These small, shallow bodies of water are known as vernal pools , becaus they occur in the springtime. lncontrast to larger bodies of water that exist year-round, these pools offer protection byproviding a short-term habitat where certain animals can breed and where their young cansafely develop away from predators. By the time the temporary pools dry up, the young aremature enough to survive without the pools.

Original: According to the reading passage, the vulnerable pores vernal pools (拼写错误,应为"vernal pools") are the places where pores pools (拼写错误,应为"pools") of water form during spring, then draw up dry up (用词不当,应为"dry up") by mid-summer. Wood frogs can lay eggs in these places because fish in the pores pools (拼写错误,应为"pools") can eat their eggs. And they can lay eggs in these pores pools (拼写错误,应为"pools") because their babies don't need to leave live in (用词不当,应为"live in") the water when they are young, and they can leave the water when the mid-summer comes. After they need to reproduce, they return to the same place to lay eggs.
Revised (140 words): Vernal pools, as mentioned in the reading passage, are temporary bodies of water that form during spring and dry up by mid-summer. Wood frogs utilize these pools as breeding grounds because fish, which can consume their eggs, are not present in these temporary habitats. The frogs can lay their eggs in these pools since their offspring do not require a permanent aquatic environment during their early development. As the tadpoles mature and mid-summer approaches, they are able to leave the water and survive on land. When it is time for the wood frogs to reproduce again, they return to the same vernal pools to lay their eggs, ensuring the continuation of their life cycle in a safe and suitable environment.
