Professor Dr.Diaz
I would like to open a discussion on the topic of social conformity versus individuality. From a very young age, we are often encouraged to ‘fit in’ with others and conform to societal norms, which can result in a lack of diversity and the promotion of uniformity. However, I believe that embracing our differences and unique perspectives can lead to greater understanding and better decision-making. Therefore, my question for the class discussion is: Do you believe it is more valuable for individuals to fit in and conform to societal norms or to embrace their uniqueness and individuality? What are the potential benefits and drawbacks of each approach?
Student A Clair
I think it’s better to be unique and different. When we try to fit in, we often hide parts of ourselves and pretend to be someone we’re not. For example, in my old school, everyone wore the same clothes and liked the same music. But when I moved here, I found a group of friends who are into different things, and I feel more like myself when I am around them.
Student B Paul
I disagree, Claire. I think it is important to fit in and be part of the group. When we are different, we can feel left out and alone. For instance, last year, I wore a different style of clothes to everyone else, and people made fun of me for it. But now that I’ve started wearing more popular clothes, people are nice to me in their activities

From my perspective, it is pivotal to embrace our uniqueness and individuality, especially at a young age. For one thing, there are so many different groups of people in this diverse world, each have different hobbies and personalities. If you choose to fit in one of the groups, then it is possible that simutaneously you miss the opportunity to establish bonds with other groups. For instance, you could not be introverted and extroverted at the same time, as a result, you can't conform to the social norms of quietness and dynamic at the same time, this is a paradox. For another thing, while some people might argue that without conforming to these norms, we will be thrown in to the corner of the world and be swallowed by a sense of loneliness, I firmly believe that we can also be friends with the individuals who are totally different from us.

Section Title: 6 文章修订
Revised Essay: In my opinion, embracing one's uniqueness and individuality holds greater value, particularly during formative years. Our world is incredibly diverse, teeming with various groups of people who possess distinct hobbies and personalities. Conforming to a specific group may inadvertently lead to missed opportunities for establishing connections with others. For example, it is impossible to be both introverted and extroverted simultaneously; thus, adhering to social norms promoting either quietness or dynamism creates an inherent paradox. While some argue that nonconformity results in isolation and loneliness, I contend that meaningful friendships can be forged with individuals who differ significantly from ourselves. By celebrating our individuality, we foster greater understanding and more informed decision-making processes that ultimately contribute to a richer, more inclusive society. (127 words)
