Task Overview
Reading Passage
Research has proven that exercise is important to overall health, and many people turn to running or its somewhat slower version, jogging, to improve their health. However, some physicians and public health officials have expressed concerns that jogging may not be medically safe. The main health concern about the safety of jogging is the amount of strain it places on the heart. Jogging is an aerobic activity--while people are jogging, their muscles need increasing amounts of oxygento produce energy. This puts a fair amount of strain on the heart because it has to work faster to send enough blood and oxygen to themuscles in the body. Sudden changes in the amount of work the hearthas to do can cause dangerous cardiac complications, such as heartattacks. In fact, studies have shown that serious heart-related problemsare seven times more likely to occur in men who are jogging than inmen who are walking or sitting. Another problem with jogging is the amount of strain it places on the joints such as ankles, knees, and hips. Every time joggers' feet strike the ground, shock waves are sent through their bodies. Joggers' joints.as the body's natural shock absorbers, bear the brunt of this strain. This can lead to significant joint injuries. Finally, there are equally effective but safer exercise alternatives. People often turn to jogging as a magic solution to burn calories and lose weight. What people often do not realize, however, is that walking burns exactly the same number of calories as jogging and is as effective for losing weight. So, there really is no compelling reason to put extra strain on your joints and risk injuries by jogging when you can achieve the same results with walking.

The reading passage lists several shortcomings about jogging. The speaker in the lecture concedes that the same question, but she concludes that jogging is not so harmful for physical health. Firstly, despite the reading argues that jogging will lead to heart attacks because it increase the strain of hearts, the speaker contends that the risk of heart attack only happen to the people who already have heart diseases or people who do not exercise regularly. If they suddenly exercise too much it will be dangerous. On the contrast, if joggers get permission from doctors, they can do this exercise constantly and will be helpful for their health. Secondly, the reading mentions that the extra strains to joints like ankles, because jogging will force joints absorb plenty of natural shock. However, the speaker concedes that though it create extra strain for joints, it also make muscles around joints work harder so that it will strong enough to take extra pressure and protect bones. Thirdly, as opposed to the reading indicates that there is proper alternative exercise, like walking, which can burn the same calories as jogging, the speaker contradicts that walking will waste more time than jogging. It will be more distances for jogging than walking, which means to keep higher efficiency in limited time, busy people will prefer to jog because it can burn more calories.

示例1: 原文:On the contrast, if joggers get permission from doctors, they can do this exercise constantly and will be helpful for their health. 修改后:On the contrary, the lecturer suggests that if joggers consult with their doctors before starting a jogging program and receive approval, they can exercise consistently and improve their overall health without significant risks.
示例2: 原文:It will be more distances for jogging than walking, which means to keep higher efficiency in limited time, busy people will prefer to jog because it can burn more calories. 修改后:The lecturer argues that jogging covers more distance than walking in the same amount of time, which means that busy people who have limited time for exercise can burn more calories by jogging, making it a more efficient form of exercise.
4.文章结构与组织
文章的结构需要改进。虽然有引言、正文和结论,但段落之间缺乏明确的过渡。建议使用过渡词和短语来连接段落和观点,使文章更加连贯。
示例1: 原文:Firstly, despite the reading argues that jogging will lead to heart attacks because it increase the strain of hearts, the speaker contends that the risk of heart attack only happen to the people who already have heart diseases or people who do not exercise regularly. 修改后:Firstly, although the reading passage argues that jogging can lead to heart attacks due to increased strain on the heart, the lecturer counters this point by stating that the risk of heart attack is mainly for those who already have underlying heart conditions or those who do not exercise regularly.
示例2: 原文:Secondly, the reading mentions that the extra strains to joints like ankles, because jogging will force joints absorb plenty of natural shock. However, the speaker concedes that though it create extra strain for joints, it also make muscles around joints work harder so that it will strong enough to take extra pressure and protect bones. 修改后:Secondly, while the reading passage mentions that jogging puts extra strain on joints such as ankles due to shock absorption, the lecturer explains that this added strain actually forces surrounding muscles to work harder. As a result, these stronger muscles can better support and protect joints from excessive pressure.

Section Title: 6.文章修订
The reading passage presents several concerns about jogging, while the lecture challenges these arguments and concludes that jogging is beneficial for physical health.
Firstly, the reading passage claims that jogging increases the strain on the heart, potentially leading to heart attacks. However, the lecturer contends that heart attack risks are mainly associated with individuals who already have heart diseases or those who do not exercise regularly. In contrast, if joggers obtain permission from doctors and maintain a consistent exercise routine, jogging can be beneficial for their health.
Secondly, the reading passage argues that jogging places excessive strain on joints such as ankles, knees, and hips due to the impact of feet striking the ground. The lecturer acknowledges this strain but explains that it also forces muscles surrounding joints to work harder. This increased effort strengthens these supportive muscles, ultimately taking pressure off joints and protecting them in the long run.
Lastly, contrary to the reading passage's suggestion that walking is an equally effective alternative to jogging for burning calories and losing weight, the lecturer disputes this claim by highlighting time efficiency. Jogging covers more distance than walking in a given time frame, resulting in more calories burned during a limited exercise period. Therefore, busy individuals may prefer jogging as a more efficient means of maintaining their physical fitness and achieving weight loss goals. (226 words)
